Those AIM chats were brilliant. We ought to do it again sometime.

Re: Attention New Members
Pretty sure Grant and big_smile have been gone for a while, Baba came back some time ago under a new account, but since then has barely been around at all and Popcorn pops up when you least expect it.plasticwingsband wrote:I mean I see threads started by Gibbon and Delphine and Segaholic but what about j-man, and Amazing Grant, and Popcorn, and Spazz, and big smile, and baba o'reilly, and Zeta, and and all the rest??
I remember you from when I used to lurk these forums years ago. No, I am not Neo Yi.
God damn it, now I feel like a noob.

Yah, that was me. Definitely remember your screenname. Nice to see another familiar face.Protodude wrote:Hey, plasticwingsband! Did you have an avatar of Beck as he appeared in Futurama? Because that momentarily got me back into him and that's probably what I remember you best for.
Yes! Those were a blast.j-man wrote:Those AIM chats were brilliant. We ought to do it again sometime.
I think I remember you, or at least someone with a very similar Hobbes avatar. And I remember the name Neo Yi, but not much else. Anyway nice to see/meet you (again?).Neo wrote:I remember you from when I used to lurk these forums years ago. No, I am not Neo Yi.

Re: Attention New Members
Not really -- I think Pop and a few others were using one for awhile, but it wasn't the GHZ's channel. We used to do AIM chats a lot but those died off.

Sorry, I just felt like doing that, anyway, I'm new here...
Hence, I am posting on the newbies thread.

Because you're an over-zealous newbie with nothing worthwhile to contribute who doesn't even bother to read all the posts in a thread before replying to it.

Re: Attention New Members
Ah, but unlike other newbies I can learn from my mistakes, and you don't know I can't contribute for a fact. This is a new experience for me, being part of an expanded community and all (I've previously been a member of an optionally anonymous forum). You don't have to like me but, forgive me, I'm going to try. For example: Just in these wonderful few hours we've had together I've learned a number of things that tick you guys off that was neglected to be mentioned in the forum rules...
- Do not try and force your agenda down other people's throats. (I'm very guilty of this.)
- Never use a signature. Ever.
- Do not overuse spoilers. (Just because it's a new shiny toy for me to play with, doesn't mean I can use it at every possible moment.)
- Do not post in all caps or use extra punctuation. (e.g. Post above this one)
- If you link, never link to the actual address. Make it part of the text, because otherwise, it's an eyesore.
- Posting on the original topic is moot if the conversation has moved elsewhere. (Unless you are the Original Poster, or you aren't a noob.)
- Do not mention memes, ever.
- Do not link unoriginal images (e.g. my first post), especially web-comics (e.g. my second) even if they are on-topic.
- Do not reply to many posts at once. The forum is not dead, people actually think before they post things. (Big difference from where I've come from)
- People with artistic skills, technical experience, have been here a long time, or have been given elaborate titles should be more respected than other posters.
- Although officially profanity/sexism/etc. is frowned upon, in certain cases, one can look the other direction when it is posted.
- If you are a noob, do not try to move the conversation elsewhere, even if it's somewhat related.
- Avoid making long posts wherever possible. (e.g. this post) ((I still have much to learn))
- Most importantly, time is the ultimate factor (If I can get past the initial hostility and follow the above rules, you will hopefully tolerate me, flawed opinions and all.)
Just give me a chance, is all I'm saying...is that fair enough?

Re: Attention New Members
Meh, as long as you have something to contribute like new videos/screenshots/info, or a thought out opinion that's more then a sentence or two then it's fine.- Posting on the original topic is moot if the conversation has moved elsewhere. (Unless you are the Original Poster, or you aren't a noob.)
ppppfffffff, fuck those guys, with their titles in red or green text, and their "hey guys look how good i can draw, arent i better than you?" threads, and their 1000+ post counts. Maniacal, egotistical assclowns ruining the board for everyone if you ask me.- People with artistic skills, technical experience, have been here a long time, or have been given elaborate titles should be more respected than other posters.
Man, fuck no, as long as you stay relevant to the topic at hand. I think you're trying to give this place too much class.- Although officially profanity/sexism/etc. is frowned upon, in certain cases, one can look the other direction when it is posted
