Megaman: "Magical Radio Powers Activate!"

I'm beginnng to agree with people who say Megaman should be retired. The next Megaman game is, I kid you not, about a grade-school student who gains magical powers from a super radio wave called "War Rock". He then goes on an adventure to fight an evil organization who are using Radio waves OF EVIL to take over the world, such as the first boss - which is a man who turns into a cow by using a magical radio.
What the fuck, Capcom? Radios? The technology's not that new. It's not full of potential like the computer technology that made Battle Network moderately interesting (for the first 3 games anyways). I mean Jesus: Good Radio waves versus Evil Radio waves? What the fuck is wrong with you?!

Actually I recently read a shining review of the import of Megaman: ZX. I don't know if it's the same game you're talking about, but it is apparently a hybrid of the tighter controls of the Zero series combined with a Castlevenia style world map. Now gained boss abilities allow for access to new parts of the map, though I don't know if they still give you the edge in boss battles. It was compared once or twice in its atmosphere and pacing to Megaman Legends in 2D form. Whether or not it lives up to the hype is another matter, but for the first time in quite a while I'm actually not dreading a Megaman game!
Still, the radio thing sound pretty fucking retarded.

Considering the Mega Man series so far, it will hit it's peak/maintain it's quality until around the third title, and then start sucking.
Speaking of Mega Man, I've been thinking of checking out the Mega Man Legends games, but does anyone know if I should bother with The Misadventures of Tron Bonne?

Nah, I'm excited about ZX. It actually has an interesting premise and atmosphere. The one I speak of is "Ryuusei no Rockman" and is basically another take on the Battle Network series with a slightly revamped battle engine, and a much stupider premise.
I think the new Blues in Ryuusei no Rockman uses a magical guitar or something, too.

Meh. It's alright. It wasn't enough to hold my interest though, because the best part of the games are the ones where you run around in a giant robot stealing shit. There are also stages where you have to do a shuffle puzzle or dungeon crawl - and those suck ass.

Now I'll admit the Megaman ZX does not look like total shit(yet) and I can't get it's
crazy techno out of my head, but do remember this: It's a
spin off of a
SPIN OFF. Surely you don't support this?
You know I'd acctually be interested in this radio wave thing if it was a show and not a Megaman game. It sounds so crazy/stupid that it could be cool with the right direction. Think of FLCL-like action with funky characters who use genres of music as weapons. MUSIC BATTLE GO!

As far as I'm concerned there are only two Mega Man spinoff franchises: X and Legends. I'd stab forks into my viens before playing Battle Network or Zero.

Correction: it's a spinoff of a spinoff (
Zero) of a spinoff (
X) of the original series, with possible relations to a spinoff (
Legends). Gotten confused yet?
I dunno, I heard
X8 was good, and the PC version's only like $20 offa GameSpot. Might check it out later, though it's unlikely I'll look into it now.
And contrary to the "
MM games are good up to the third entry", I thought
X3 was kinda convoluted but
X4 was excellent, and I rather enjoyed
MM8, too.

Battle Network 6 was good in my opinion. 5 was alright and 4 was abyssmal.

I'm still waiting for the game promised by the US Mega Man 2 box art, where Mega Man is a trigger happy policeman.

It's cute if you can find it cheap enough (which by this point I imagine you can). It's not very substantial... each stage is one of 4 or 5 different minigames played in a randomish order with increasing difficulty. But Tron's cute and the little Lego men are badass and I just really love the Legends universe, so I dug it.

If Bumpy Trot had Kobun, it would be like a version of Tron Bonne that was actually really good.

THE TITLE OF THE GAME IS BUMPY TROT. "Bumpy Trot" is what happens when the Tinman eats a bean burrito on a hot day.

And Bumpy Trot is what happens when a camel has digestive tract problems.

Yes I do, wrong, and fucking no.
Classic/X/Zero/ZX: All of these are sidescrolling run & gun platformers, and all share an established continuity. Classic is the game they're all based off of, but the gameplay recieves a minor reinvention at the start of each new series, so they're all part of the same lineage. Because they're all connected,
none of them are spin-offs by definition. Further evidence: Keji Inafune has no desire to revisit the Classic series, the X series seems to have finished its' run as well
despite leaving Axl's future up in the air, and Zero's series came to a tidy end.
Legends: Is technically part of the core continuity, but the gameplay's almost a whole new beast. You could call this a half-spin-off, since we're tossing lame monikers around.
Battle Network/Ryuusei no Rockman: They have a continuity of their own (no idea if Ryuusei is directly connected to BN, though), making these the only true spin-offs. Ignoring the side games like MM Battle & Chase/MMX Command Mission of course.
My point: This series handles sequels and follow ups in a weird way, weird enough that you have to look at it differently to get it. If you still think it's ridiculous, shoot, Final Fantasy's like this too.

Heartburn, nausea, indigestion,
Upset stomach, diarrhea,
...i'll spare you the rest. No one needs flashbacks of that guy in the suit spanking his ass.

Possibly moreso.
It can't possibly be comfortable to adventure around the world in a leather dress, much less a dress made out of belts.

Great points, and well-made, too. About this new game, all I can say is: I don't know if it was because of the entirely different continuity, the strategy-styled gameplay, or the fact both the games and the TV show took a turn similiar to the Pokemon anime in terms of... feel, but the NT series was the only Megaman series I never cared about, and I doubt it will be different with "Ryuusei". ZX, on the other hand, is the only other reason I have to buy a DS.
Keji Inafune has no desire to revisit the Classic series, the X series seems to have finished its' run as well despite leaving Axl's future up in the air, and Zero's series came to a tidy end.
Actually, with the recent release of the first series initial game's remakes, there's a chance they'll eventually continue both series. And there's rumors of the Zero series continuing (let's hope they're fake- Z4's ending was pretty appropriate, and connects well with ZX. On the other hand, X5 had a similiar type of ending, but Capcom decided to keep it flowing. But I'm not one to complain- despite their flaws, I love X6 and X8. X7 was allright).

What I heard was, Inticreates came to Inafune with a design concept for Mega Man 9, and he shot it down because didn't like it. In fact, I believe he directed those PSP remakes to show people how you really do a Classic/X styled Mega Man, in case anyone plans on trying again. He does want to continue remaking the X series up to episode 3, but it's not happening on account of both remakes selling like dead spiders in japan.
Maybe that makes him sound like a hardass, but after the fiasco with X6, one learns to be more careful. The plan was to end the X saga at #5 and transition straight into the Zero saga, and the storylines for both were specifically written to take advantage of this. By the time Inafune was made aware that another dev team within the company had somehow slapped together a sixth game without his permission, it had already shipped. That forced Zero 2 and 3 to have "damage control stories" to seal the unecessary plotholes.
