Sonic Advance 3 Scans-Some new art and stuff

Post by Titan »

My Japanese copy of SAd3 arrived this morning, I've made a few scans. There's some art of Tails flying Sonic that I haven't seen on the net...

Awww, Cream looks so cute riding on Knuckles.

And just what the hell is up with Eggman's legs? It's as if he's riding an invisible bronco.

Out of interest, are the sound clips in the Japanese version in English (as in using Ryan Drummond et al) like in the US/European versions, or did they use the Japanese voice actors?

No wonder it destroyed your account, they were 5 meg altogether :)

Anyway, here's the backups:

- Back of the box
- Leaflet
- Manual image 2-3
- Eggman and Gemel

Are there any pages with the Knuckles/Cream, Amy/Sonic images seperately? If there is, could you also get me good closeups of them as well?

With the Leaflet image, I was able to extract the Sonic/Tails image:

Some bits look a little goofy, but the point of them is to allow you to resize them afterwards, like this:

Where you don't notice any differences :)

You are my new god, Rlan ^_^
IIRC, the Knuckles/Cream and Sonic/Amy images are on Sonic Team's site anyway.

I've only seen the Sonic/Amy one on Sonicteam.com.

Besides, they're too small to even try to do anything with :(

What I immediatelly thought after seeing Knuckles's new flying sprite

Image

Doesn't make much sense, really. I thought he used his spread-out quills to glide.

Indeed.

Tails has a similar pose when paired with Knuckles.

I think I remember reading in one of the Sonic Adventure manuals that it's actually the power of Knuckles's fists that allow him to glide.

I think the quills/dreadlocks thing was from the Archie comics explanation.

Actually, according to Archie Comics, Knuckles can glide because he's the Emerald Guardian and thus gets a lot of nifty powers that other echidnas don't get.

Yeah, I'm ashamed I know that.

In the OVA, he could just fly around with no explanation, and he couldn't very well have his dreads all fan out, as that would risk knocking off his awesome hat.

It seems that no one can ever decide if Knuckles is supposed to be Australian or gehtto. Because that hat was very Australian.

If we're labeling characters by thier headwear, I guess we can call Eggman Jamaican, as he was wearing that "stupid-fresh" Reggae hat in Sonic CD extra pic.

I'm starting to think Knuckles is a cross between both Australian and African enchidnas. "Austafricalian", I suppose.

Nice to see that Uekawa is drawing pictures where characters actually interact now(It makes me all the sadder there was no Uekawa art for Heroes;_;). Now we just need the -cky animals, and some funky, SEGA logo plastered, hand drawn backgounds, and we'll be all set for a Sonic Screensaver 2.

There's a "Did you Know" thing in Prima's SAd2 guide that says Knuckles was originally going to have a Jamacian accent.

Prima's full of shit. They wrote a Sonic & Knuckles guide and said Knuckles had a Jamacan accent just because they thought he would since he had dreadlocks. Then they go around telling people he was only "meant" to have a Jamacan accent to cover their tracks. I'd be very suprised if even 10% of the Japanese population KNOWS what a Jamacan accent is.

Am I the only one that has a "wtf" look on their face after reading that?

Just about everything is in Knuckles' fists, including his brains. The same way that GG! thinks from the inside of his pants..

Every man thinks from the inside of his pants, Master.

Sonic Advanced 3 looks good, I reckon. Shame I don't own a Gameboy Advanced.
