...on GameTap

Was browsing through out of curiosity and found this. Kind of lame considering that this service lauched 2 or 3 weeks after Gems Collection went on sale. Guess we'll end up getting it in like... Sonic Ultra Collection or something.

Are you a member of GameTap? If so, how is it? I've been thinking about joining, but I despise playing games on a PC, much less console games. There is something about sitting at a desk playing Sonic that is a little unsettling. Plus I'd have to get a PC controller.

I've beaten every Sonic game with my arrow keys and didn't find it the least bit hindering, excluding SADX but I got used to that pretty quick.

My complaint was the whole sitting at a desk more so than using a keyboard. The keyboard problem can be fixed easily. The being able to sit on the couch won't be solved until I can save enough money to buy a bigass LCD TV that I can double as a bigass PC monitor. Speaking of which, who wants to give me money?!

You know, I would, but I conveniently forgot to take my stupid pills this morning, so no cash for you.

No, I was just browsing. I want to try the free trial, but they have one of those "If you don't cancel it we start charging." deals. Those always sound fishy to me.

With a wired 360 controller, PC gaming is pretty much sex. Played Psychonauts with it.

My problem with buying a wired 360 controller is I also plan on buying a 360, and I kind of want all my controllers to be wireless. Does anyone know if the play and charge kit things allow you to connect a wireless controller to a PC? Then again, I am asking the wrong crowd.

The Play and Charge kit is for power only. If you plug your play and charge kit into a an X360, the information is still being transmitted wirelessly. Likewise, if you have a USB based iPod, you can charge your controllers with the Apple USB AC adapter McDeal.

Sigh. I play too much.

I can't say I care about achievement points, but it's a neat idea. I like have every single 360 game has some form of Live connectivity, but we don't want to turn this thread into a 360 thread.

The only thing I'll say is I find the concept addicting. To the point that I've managed to unlock at least one a day since launch. Every Day.

Back to the thing at hand. Being the young Knuckles fanboy I was at the time, I bought a 32x just for Knuckles Chaotix when I was a kid.

What other reasons are there for buying a 32x?

I wanted to get a 32X for Chaotix but Mom said "HELLZ NO. YOU ALREADY HAVE A SEGA!" and I'm like "BUT MOOOM IT'S AN ADD-ON!" and she's like "WTF IS THAT?"

I liked Knuckles, but Vector was the reason I wanted it.

Why would any of you want Gametap? It makes sense for Joe Shmoe gamers, but we know how to use the Internets. If they had Saturn or PS2 I'd understand, but why pay money to play NES games that you can download ANYWHERE?

ehm, Mortal Kombat II. The 32X version is generally agreed to be one of the best console ports of the game.

I didn't look too closely at the list, but it looked like they had quite a few games from the 32 bit generation. I don't know if they were all Playstation, or not.

Well for me it was mostly because they added joypad support for some PC games that didn't have it. Not enough to warrant a subscription, but enough to warrant a trial.

Isn't the first Virtua Fighter also on the 32X?

Virtua Fighter 32X was also 60 frames per second, and had everything but the graphics intact. It ran faster than the original Saturn VF to my understanding.

My name is Weepel

GameTap's always kind of intrigued me, but they have no Mac support.

Yes, I'm on a Mac. It's totally my school's fault.
