Super Monkey Ball.... Adventure?

Made by Traveler's Tales no less...

Don't get me wrong, I love the Super Mokey Ball games thus far, but I expect this to be really bad. Or at best really generic.

SEGA, don't hurt my Monkey Balls. You still have some apologizing to do for the Shadow fiasco.

Then again, I don't really HATE Traveler's Tales' games. I just don't love them.

And I guess the screenshots look nice...

Damn, my negetivity is faultering...

Hmm...I haven't played enough Super Monkey Ball to judge, but...I'm psyched.

This is the project i've been working on for the past two months.

As a pre-emptive rating, i'd predict the game will get around 80%, but the game is very incomplete right now. Those screenshots are from a really old alpha too.

But i warn you now, the music is friggin' awesome.

I can give more info if you demand.

The only thing that concerns me right now is the fact that Super Monkey Ball 2's story was an utter flop that was quite embarassing to play around other people. Seeing as how this game is actually meant to have a story, and the TV is currently located in the living room, which has at least one person in it about 99.5% of the time, it's unlikely that I'll ever have the chance to really get into it.

Other than that, it looks pretty decent, this coming from a rly fuxing hardcore Super Monkey Ball fan. And Travelers Tales has done no wrong in my eyes, so I'll just have to wait and see how things pan out. The game already looks the part somewhat, despite the significantly heavier atmosphere and the paltry world count.

I've got an e-harpoon to your nads, spill. Also, what exactly is it that you do over at SEGA, again?

Hmm... what to say...

There are challenge stages, as that hasn't been mentioned on the news sites, and the game will come out on the Gamecube.

The party games are good, except two which are not completed yet. But not all of them return.

In terms of story mode, i fear that the underlying themes in each stage may not be picked up on due to the cutscenes not really being in depth enough. Once the game is released, i can fully explain these themes, as they are surprisingly awesome. The story does actually get pretty dark in some places (in the design docs at least), and there are extremely vague references to the current world state.

Finally, a small game for you all to play. A place from Lord of the Rings is parodied for the name of the monkey planet they live on. Try to guess what it is.

Monkey-Earth?

That would be horribly lame though.

Political commentary? In Super Monkey Ball? This is the best thing ever!

Wait, the monkeys live on another planet?

Also, I'm trying to grasp the idea of a dark story or a real story of any kind in this franchise.

I played that when they were still part of Psygnosis. They also made Mickey Mania quite a while back for the 16-bit systems.

Just tell your roommates to fuck off. Mine all looked at me and were like, "What the fuck are you playing?". Then I got them to play some multiplayer with me, and it was all good after that. My only problem with Monkey Ball 2 is some of the levels were impossibly difficult, like no amount of skill could have helped you get through it. That wasn't a real problem in the first one, too bad I lent it to my friend, and some fag stole it from him right before he went on his crazy mormon 2 year mission. So even if I wanted to go to his house and cut him, HE WOULDN'T BE THERE!
