Hey, remember back in July when I announced the DVD release of Godzilla Final Wars in Japan? Well, it's out on DVD in the United States today from Tristar. You can check it out at amazon.com and elseware if you care.

It doesn't have a lot in the way of extra features, but at least it includes the original Japanese voice track 9with allthe English speaker speaking English) and accurate subtitles, in addition to Toho's international dub track (provided courtesy the same five people who dubbed every Godzilla movie from 1989 onward). So pick it up if that's your thing.

This has been nagging me, so I'm curious. Is the above quoted segment a joke, or is it actually true?

It's actually true. They use a dubbing studio in Hong Kong to do the international English dubs for their films, and you can tell that it's the same five people that have been doing the voices for the past several movies.

I had no idea. The only one I've ever seen dubbed is the very first black and white one. And beyond that, the only one I've seen in Japanese is the new [relatively speaking] Godzilla X MechaGodzilla.
