Metal Sonic information

From an obscure piece of Japanese merchandise.

This is a machine
which Eggman developed
secretly in order to compete
with Sonic's speed.
Its speed is equal to that of Sonic.
However, it
can achieve 4 times the accelerating speed
of Sonic when the circuits
are overloaded. when the energy overloads
the circuitry, blue-white
sparks spout from Metal Sonic.
The reaction is called
"V. Maximum Overdrive
Attack" and its power
can penetrate any substance.

However, V. Maximum Overdrive
Attack cannot be sustained
because of its unfavorable
cost performance and potential to
destroy Metal Sonic itself.
In addition, Metal Sonic can
also use its radiation attack called
Ring Spark Field,
but this also has its drawbacks.
This attack affects speed,
since electric power is released to the outside.

God! I hate it when people place embeded midis and stupid floating/falling gif effects in their auctions.

Excellent find, Pengy.

That Sally plush must be, like, rarer than Jesus.

Looks like ass, though.

Of course the question is can Metal Sonic exceed Mach 4 or is the magnitude of his acceleration four times greater then Sonic's?

It says Sonic capitalized, so I don't think it is referring to the speed of sound. Besides the speed of sound is a speed not an acceleration.

Yeah... Sonic runs at the speed of sound... So is it trying to say it accelerates to Sonic's speed (Mach 1) four times faster, ie four times the acceleration, or is it saying he can accelerate to four times Sonic's velocity, ie Mach 4?

I think the first one, and has it ever been confirmed that Sonic actually runs at the speed of sound? I thought his name just indicated that he could run really fast, perhaps even super sonic speeds.

achieve 4 times the accelerating speed
Something tells me it's 4 times the acceleration speed. The speed of acceleration. How fast he accelerates. The rate at which he accelerates.

Is that sufficient?

Why would you assume a velocity four times greater when it explicitly uses the word "accelerating"?

Because he likes to argue?

Why would you believe it's acceleration when explicitly states "speed?"

Then there is the fact that while he does accelerate faster in game, his maximum speed is also faster then Sonic's. It also states in the Japanese Sonic CD manual that when he overloads his engine he can go faster then Sonic.

However I would agree that acceleration is what they were trying to get across. I suppose "speed of acceleration" is what they were going for with "accelerating speed" though neither of which are terms I'm used to reading, thus the confusion. When I read over it the first time it was sort of like "energetic momentum" it just didn't make any sense to me. I blame the physics classes, the ignorant masses and the Engrish.

Sonic has been confirmed in multiple official profiles to run at the speed of sound, faster in fact. It says his highest recorded speed is Mach 1 but his maximum is unknown. I'll see what I can dig up for source material.

I was responding to Lightspeed here:

I mean if that's okay with you there Kishi, since you seem to think that your opinion is somehow relevant in this dialouge that you just invited yourself into for the sole purpose of deriding it.
