Yes, Peyo's family agreed to this. Its some sort of anti-war ad where the Smurfs' village gets bombed and the last frame shows a crying Baby Smurf in the ruins of the village surrounded by dead Smuf bodies, then it shows the message "Don't let war affect the lives of children."
There's a video here, but the streaming sucks so it's more like a slide show:

I'm happy to see that Smurfette bought it, so their whole race is doomed.
However, the fact that Gargamel was nowhere in sight pisses me off. He should be gleefully gathering their corpses to make his long sought-after Smurf stew!

So, I guess this makes Gargamel Cheney and Dubya Azrael . . .

Maybe the Smurfs wouldn't have gotten bombed if they weren't hiding weapons of mass destruction.
Or um, maybe they were effecting America's safety.
Or rather, they were keeping us from spreading Freedom. Yeah, that sounds about right. Stupid Smurfs. Mission Accomplished.

Remember though, she was created through magic to boost village morale. Their species existed (and I assume somehow propagated) long before she did.

I'm more disturbed by this then anything else, but I'll probably go on not caring later in the day.

You mean gold.

You mean gold.
It depends how many he catches. It requires a certain minimum number of smurfs to make gold, but the soup recipe can utilize any possible number of smurfs. Should he simply catch one smurf and satisfy his hunger immediately, or should he store them up and convert them to gold for a greater profit over a longer period? It's this unique risk-reward system that makes catching smurfs so irresistable.

You, sir, have captured the essence of the hunt. Bravo!

Ugh, Dutch is such a disgusting language. But Afrikaans is worse, I guess.

If Papa Smurf would have left the village there never would have been a war.
