The game was buggy and, like Nights, on the short side, but in concept, the game ruled and begged to be remade/continued on more powerful hardware. Some of the voice communication was lost with me since the game was in Japanese, but I could get some of it.
I also liked the art direction in the game, more anime andless like Nights and Sonic.
BTW, while trying to see if the game had been brought up in the past here, there seems to be an inside joke involving Tillis' boobies? Fill me in...

Being a Sega obsessed youth and a massive Sonic fan any Sonic Team release was compulsory to snap up. It's a good thing then I actually liked Burning Rangers. The 'random' level generator thing kept things fresh even though most of the time you navigated the levels in more or less the same way.
Also lacking the internet back then I didn't have a clue that the 2 player mode rumour *wasn't* in the game. So I spent a good while trying to get an S rank in all the levels. Something I actually achieved. Just the fact I'd managed it was good enough for me that by then i didn't even care no 2p mode existed.

It continues to baffle me why Sonic Team don't make a Burning Rangers 2 - the hardware these days could actually handle it, animé schtick is more popular (in the UK, certainly) now than when it was released originally, and basically I just thought the original had so much potential. Ah well...

Yes, good game, I never was able to find Elliot in the second mission on an un-paswored game, that traumatized me a little... (Elliot dying by flames or drowned because of a crystal broke, scary >.<)

The Nights kids in Burning Rangers were hilarious. The whole getting e-mail of people you saved idea was cool and a good way of getting the odd secret here and there, but really, the kids made me laugh with their insane chatter of a being visiting them in their dreams.

Because most of the dudes who created Burning rangers no longer work for Sega, like Naoto Oshima.
