Any Myst fans out there?
If so, then you probably know that the last game in the series, Myst V: End of Ages, is coming out in about a week. What you might not know is that Cyan is probably going out of business.
I thought it was a good series. I'm into the exploring and adventure side of it. The puzzles were usually good; Riven was probably my favorite in that respect. What got me into the series was all the story in URU. I thought it was cool.

Probably. I don't remember much of the first game.Green Gibbon! wrote:Can't you make an explosion happen by taking the letter in a bottle to the windmill and turning the crank three times? Or something similarly inane?
Some of us figure out the puzzles on our own.Squirrelknight wrote:Myst really isn't a game. It's an excuse to buy a strategy guide.

Clicking on everything on the screen to find a hotspot (then discovering that you needed to click on the arbitrary wall to open a secret door) was frustrating and perhaps illogical, but the series has moved away from that. Most of the actual puzzles were fun and possible to figure out once you'd found them.
I think the art gallery style of the game is one of its most attractive features. It's a relaxing stroll through beautiful alien landscapes, like a platformer except you can't jump 6 feet.

Seriously. I spent more time fooling around with stupid stuff than actually doing the plot. "Oooh, green gas makes the screen all wavy! DO IT AGAIN!"Frieza2000 wrote:Indeed. That entertained me far more than it should have.
