Those unable to access Simon’s Turf might be interested in two rare Japanese videos that have recently been posted there.
The Official Sega Video Library: Sonic the Fighters video, posted by Kushami, takes an in-depth look at the attack moves and battle strategies of Sonic’s fighting debut. It also includes a new version of the intro, which contains dialogue bubbles not found in the arcade original (unfortunate, most of the text is unreadable).
The second video, posted by HXC, is titled The History of Sonic the Hedghog and is the source of the concept artwork Jessica Padkin posted a while ago. The movie contains extensive design profiles on the key Sonic characters. According to Hari Hari (of leading Japanese turf Act Select), the video is narrated by Naoto Ohshima and was originally released in Japan as a Sonic 3 pre-order gift.

According to the video, Sonic's shoes were based around the design of Michael Jackson's shoes in the Bad music video, or at least around some shoes he was "dancing" in from that period. Can anyone confirm that? Like, has anyone got the Bad video, or maybe, I dunno, pictures of shoes Michael Jackson has worn over the years? Surely some nutjob out there is keeping track of his footwear!
The majority of the narration is obviously some typical super-excited Japanese narrator, but the other narration is indeed Ohshima. I'm not sure what he is saying at the end, like the narrator is saying "if the players are the hero, Sonic, then.." and Ohshima says "we here at Sega are the mecha-fetishist Dr. Eggman." So, we must be intended to infer, every time you play, imagine that you are foiling Sonic Team's plans of world conquest through crappy new games and the constant re-releasing of old ones!

Actually, I happen to have been documenting Michael Jackson's footwear since 1983. A quick flick through my extensive database gives me this:G.Silver wrote: Can anyone confirm that?
