I have the GC Gems Collection and this night, I unlocked some very interesting pictures:

You know this concept pic with Sonic and a blonde girl:


Well, she's back in Gems:



But the best has yet to come. There is a picture showing that Eggman was NOT the main bad guy and there were no badniks, just weirds creatures (the hand makes me think of Alex Kidd)



Someone should rip them from the game ;)

Eggman seems to have been the most reworked character whilst they were creating Sonic 1. Does anyone have all of the various Eggman pics from the design process? I recall one from some video where there was a blatant Mario ripoff. I can't figure out how he could've become a BEE at one point, didn't he have something close to his final design back when they were considering him as the hero of the game?

Also, notice the enemies in the bottom picture. It looks like the winged thing eventually became Basaran, the pink thing became Yadorin and the dildo probably became that "Splats" enemy that was unused in the final game.

What is that white thing in the bottom left corner? A baseball bat or some sorta penis baddie?

Jessica Padkin ripped the video Crazy Penguin's talking about. It had a bunch of interesting concept art that resembles this.

There is the Eggman in pyjama picture and some sort of Sonic labels/stickers, but the blonde and the other one I posted are the most interesting.

As I understand it some of these already discovered concepts are on Gems. Maybe it'd be worth ripping them for the sake of quality?

On Gems, there are just the blonde girl and the "Sonic with the dildo" arts, as well the Eggman in pyjamas. I don't know if the others are in.

I've never seen that lethargic bimbo before. Nothing's known about her other than these shots?

Also, that bottom picture looks like it would have been the worst game ever. I do have a nostalgic streak in me, but the lame generic game-baddie style of the early nineties just sucks.

It looks like she thinking back to Sonic's reaction after she kissed him a few times. Either Sonic's still in his "girls=cooties" stage or those Sonic/Tails jokes aren't that far from the truth.

Also, I wonder how would the whole Sonic franchise(game, comics, cartoons, etc) would be like if this concept art and characters actually did become the standard.

She does seem to be able to use them in a sort-of pogo stick/space baloon fashion.

Judging by that picture of her whispering to Sonic, it seems the blue dude was originally meant to be more hedgehog-sized than he is now.

Out of curiosity, is there anyplace online where someone has ripped all the museum artwork? As much fun as it is to look at on my television, the only really useful place for it to be would be on my computer! I suppose this would be easier to do myself if I had the PS2 version instead of the Gamecube one...
