Honey in Sonic the Fighters

Heh, cute. And somewhat scary. So how do you actually go about hacking her playable using the Nebula Model 2 emulator?

A friend tells me that he recalls seeing this version of Honey (albeit in her 2P colours) amongst the toys in the Saturn Fighting Vipers intro FMV - could anyone get a screenshot of this?

I have no way to get a screenshot, but that character is in the opening of Fighting Vipers in Honey's 2P outfit. For years I'd always assumed it was from some obscure old Sega game I couldn't identify.

I guess this was a test character or maybe a planned hidden character that wasn't used? I second the request for StF hacking information.

Almost a week ago, I wrote:On to Sonic the Fighters, I have a feeling some code junky might find a way to get Metal Sonic to be playble via a code device such as Action Replay or Code Breaker. We might even find a way to summon Super Sonic without having to beat every single round without losing. I don't see what use Eggman would have, seeing he only has two moves (The PPP Combo and some whirly hand attack).

She's pretty cute.

And I like that headless Sonic head shot. Hilarious.

In the arcade ROM, does she actually have her own move set, or does she leech off of another character's?

A couple other things, don't know if anyone else here has seen them:

These were hacked on the Rom by someone in X-cult, or so I'm told. I got them from Terios619. A bit harder to hack on Gems; so far no one's got it right on the 'Cube.

Sometimes I wonder how much it would mess up the game if they erased Honey (or erased any model or sprite that's never used in any game) from the code.

I like to wonder about such useless things.

Rocket Metal looks like Metal Sonic in Heroes. I wouldn't be surprised if he is the upgrade of Metal or if he was used as a reference for the Sonic heroes incarnation.

In the game he's a reconnaisance robot built by Tails and has nothing to do with Eggman or the original Metal Sonic, but yeah, he could have been used as a reference point by designers.

Well, after a long, arduous period of time, I was finally able to get an account at the SCARZ forum. Here are the codes to unlock *some* of the characters, it is recommended that Cheat Engine be used to enter them.

As for the secret characters... I dunno, I think this has something to do with them:
sonicblur wrote:Load your favorite cheating program up, and tell it to cheat on the emulator you're using. I used Cheat Engine for this.

Set it up to do a byte (8 bits) search.
At the character select screen, highlight one of the characters, and search for it's value (posted on first page). Keep switching characters and searching until you narrow it down. You should eventually end up with 3 addresses as results.

The last 2 both must be changed to the new value you want for the code to take effect. (I'd post the addresses here, but usually emulators always have their memory in different places, so it wont work for everyone. It's not too difficult to search yourself since I posted the values)
Really, I don't understand any of this crap, so meh.

I believe Nebula is the only thing that emulates Model 2 games at all right now. Most are unplayably slow, though.

It has to be Nebula 2.21b (Model 2 test). I think that's the only version that's ever worked. And I've never had unplayable slowdown. There's a slight lag and the music is choppy, but it never hurt my ability to play it. I think it's one of these.

Correction: if you don't have a PC that qualifies as a government supercomputer, it runs unplayably slow.

well i have version 2 or w/e and the game file called "schamp" I have extracted it but don't know where to put it in the folder for Nebula ver.2
I try to open it from the load rom menu and get a "There are files missing Load aborted" how do I make this game work?

You're not supposed to extract it. You're supposed to leave it in a zip called "schamp.zip" and put that in a folder called "Roms" in the Nemula folder. If there is no Roms folder (and there probably isn't), make one.

Create a folder named "Roms" then insert "schamp.zip" and you should be ready to go.

EDIT: Damnit.

Don't forget to direct Nebula to your roms folder. Otherwise, you'll get nil. Don't ask me why Nebula doesn't do this by default.

I version I have only lets me choose load/unload rom and in the load rom menu it doesn't have an option to change a directory. The file name of the one I have is "m2emulator". If you can help I greatly appreciate it.

As you can see, the proper option is highlighted. If you're emulator doesn't look like this, you fucked up somewhere.
