I live in a fucking wierd town: Daleks Takeover

Here's a picture from my local paper. At first I though nothing much of it as I had been to a local con called "Collectormania" and had seen various Daleks going around, getting autographs and attention, chatting to people (yep, I had a chat to a Dalek and his friend) and scaring the little kiddies by "da-ing" the Dr Who tune. I thought that that was surreal enough until I came across this column. Weird Shit!

How exactly does a Dalek sign an autograph? Does he use his plunger or his batter mixer?

The dalek had a £10 note stuck to the plunger with a tiny bit of tape for the fee. It waited in the queue for David Prowse's (Darth Vader's) autograph casually with the human friend. When he reached the front Alan Cumming who was signing nearby rushed with his digital camera to get a photo. It was class.
Edit: The Dalek asked for the autograph, not signed. Good question though.

There really should be a Dalek Party. Seriously, they could fucking EXTERMINATE Tony Blair, Michael Howard and all those other wankers.

Do you... do you really not know about "All your base are belong to us"?

It wasn't originally a Sonic Adventure flash movie, godamnit.

It seems that someone needs to brush up on their Zero Wing and it's AYB.

Quick recap courtesy Newgrounds

Sigh, Zero Wing is the earliest arcade memory I have and I remember it being awesome. Problably the most generic shooter ever though. Still how I wish that I owned a cabinet of it, even if it did lack the genesis intro.

Oh well there is always MAME.

Ah, I see. I came across a flash animation where a badly voiced Eggman kept saying the phrase and snippets of SA had it written on a board or whatever. I guess I assumed it was that.

The arcade version looks way better than the MD port--I saw it in an arcade not too long ago and was really surprised. The colorful design and large size of the ship is actually really striking and makes it stand out in the arcade.

I saw it in an arcade about a year ago, and I got excited hopeing it would have the intro. But it didn't.

I've played Zero Wing, but it was the port. I liked it, but you say the Arcade version is better?

The graphics in the arcade game was quite pretty and colorful for it's time no doubt about that. The gigantic whale boss on the first stage still gives me goosebumps (and then kicks my ass). When I said generic I refered more to the gameplay and the simple weapon system than the graphics.

It was pretty much the most basic system ever consisting of Red=Spread, Blue=Laser and Green=Seeker with an occasional speed bonus. Pretty "dull" when you compare it with more advance shooters from the time like Gradius and R-Type. Though some could problably spin it and say that Zero Wing gives you the "shooter experience" in it's purest form.

Not me however, I'm in it for the nostalgia. :P *Get's ass kicked by whale boss*

Doesn't it also have some kind of enemy-grabbing system like Darius (sometimes?) has?

Yes it does. You have a tractor beam avialable at all times. You can grab powerups, or tote bombs, or (for humors sake) grab enemies! That was the slickest part of the game. Even on the port, which was ported to my Dream Cast via. ROM via. Obsidian, the game played well. Sound sucked, but everything else was passable.

Egad, I totally forgot about the tractor beam. Even though I had been playing it on MAME lately I didn't remember that. Go me! :P

But I admit that the beam does make the game less generic though.
