Yeah. Ken's work during the Knuckles comic's life was his best, IMO. A hell of a lot of interesting ideas used quite well, new characters that were actually good, and some story arcs which were surprisingly deep. I do, however, have a problem with the amount of secrecy and lying that went on in his stories; the Brotherhood being a prime example. He also sometimes stumbles with emotional scenes and dialogue. Ken's not doing so good at the moment, but it's still preferable to Karl's cover stories.
BTW, Karl WAS a colourist for the comic for a short time before he went into writing. The colouring wasn't anything to write home about, though. It's pretty sad.

Circling back to the original topic, I just picked up copies of Sonic 3D Blast, Astal and Bug for ten bucks each. I know no one recommended Bug, but I always sort of liked it when I picked it up for the PC, and thought it would be nice to play when it isn't running at half speed like it did on my old computer.
Anyhow, I'm left with just one thought... do none of these games have a save feature? Man, I'd forgotten how annoying that is. I wonder if there will ever again be a point in my life where I have time to play all the way through a game in one sitting?
Also, the PC version of Bug had way better music.

I don't even have a save cartridge for my Sega Saturn. I'm proud to say that, although I hadn't played it in years, I pulled out NiGHTS last weekend and finally got A's all around in one sitting. But that probably isn't saying much.
Anyway, I played the hell out of Saturn's 3D Blast before i'd even heard of the Genesis version. That's probably why I remember it fondly; I played the Genesis version for the first time on SMC and it sucked tremendously. One day i'm going to grab the Saturn version and cherish it.
And Bug? Totally forgettable, and what I DO remember of it wasn't so hot either.

Bug! is to 3D platformers as to what Sonic Heroes is to team based platforming. In short, both are incredibly bad.chriscaffee wrote:Tasteless heathens. You wouldn't know a good game if someone stuck it up your ass. In pieces. Sharp pieces.
But then again, this is coming from the man who states that Halo is superior to Half-Life on the basis that it has a proper sniper rifle.

Oh, the original Bug wasn't that bad, not when it was brand new, anyway. Granted, to call it good would be a stretch, but back when I got my Saturn, I had that and Gex. I think it might technically be the first genuine 3D platformer ever, and there must certainly be something to say for that.
Also, the problem in Astal isn't lack of saves, it's just too damn hard. The game has, like, ten levels, all basically the same as the first except different graphics. If it weren't impossible, you could probably clear it in about half an hour.

I never said one was better then the other for any reason of the sort. What I said was "An FPS without a sniper rifle, I cannot take seriously." And Half-Life 2 has no multiplayer so who gives a shit about it anyway? But then again, this is coming from the man who states that Halo is superior to Half-Life on the basis that it has a proper sniper rifle.
