Oh, snap! Is it too late for me to be on-topic?
Fatal Frame. Would give me a chance to finally snap all of those elusive ghosts.
Sonic Jam. Obvious.
One of the Silent Hill games. Doesn't matter which. (On second thought, make that SH1.)
Guardian Heroes. I can stand to become re-acquainted with this game.
Minakata Hakudo Tohjou. When I finally snap from the unbearable loneliness, I'll be able to actually play and enjoy this game.

Warning: ever-so-long reply from SH fan follows:Delphine wrote:Even 3? I mean, there are only three endings (as opposed to five), and Heather becomes pretty annoying after awhile, at least to me. The first one is more fun and 2 is more thought-provoking.aso wrote:One of the Silent Hill games. Doesn't matter which.
I suppose it's a matter of taste at the moment, as I'm a bit torn as to which I'd prefer the most out of all three. While 3's story was nothing special, I believe it had the best music overall out of the series, in addition to the freakiest vibe out of all of the games. Replay-wise, I'll admit it does come up short.
So then I come to 2, which does have a deeper and more interesting story. However, SH2's Otherworld just doesn't have the same impact as the Otherworlds from 1 and 3. While SH2 does have creepiness, it seems to rely on a vaguer sense of dread than an outright thread of psychological trauma. And while dread is all well and good, I'm a fan of the less-subtle approach. In addition, while it does have all of those endings, I'm not a big fan of altering my gameplay style ever-so-slightly from game to game just to receive THIS particular ending as opposed to THAT one. What particularly peeves me is how I thought I'd be getting the 'Maria' ending on one game, and received the 'In Water' ending, instead. Rah...
Finally, there's 1. And come to think of it, given what you've posted and what I've rattled about, I'd actually prefer to take the first Silent Hill game with me after all, given that I like it the best. That's prolly due to the fact that I played it first. Harry's also a more appealing protagonist.
After all, who wins, a doting father, a forgetful murderer, or an angsting teenager?

Silent Hill
Ah, see, I'm into the vague sense of dread. I do agree that as you're playing, 2 isn't as creepy as the others; it's when you think about it that you go, nYAH, oh my GOD, and hide under the covers and can't sleep. *cough*
3 certainly has it's moments, but to me it's all little stuff that doesn't add up; finding Harry in the living room, the ways you can die that aren't obvious, the scene when she's being driven to SH and trying not to cry, the footsteps, the bloody room, the room you find in the Other church that is just like the one she left her dad in... and there are bloody footsteps... eyyah... and now that I've creeped myself out and forgotten my point... oh, yeah, there are lots of little things in SH3 that I adore, but the game on the whole gives me a big 'meh'.
The first one is still my favorite, and the only reason I wouldn't bring it on the island with me is because I've played it so many times I can beat it in less than two hours on hard mode and have gotten each ending at least once. :D

Re: Silent Hill
True, 2's sense of dread can REALLY build up given enough time. It's not my favorite sort of fear, but I'll admit, I like it quite a bit. I'll personally always love the hotel at the end, as it exemplifies what SH2's fear factor is all about. (The Prison is nice, sure, but the puzzles there annoyed the hell outta me)Delphine wrote:Ah, see, I'm into the vague sense of dread. I'm not surprised that you feel that way about SH3. It seems to be a general consensus on the game from many of the fans, and if I hadn't been so pumped full of hype before the game was released, I'd probably feel the same way. But, hey, I just adore the bluntness of some of the environments. Remember the red fuzzy 'Other' Alchemilla hospital? The twitching, gyrating, horrible Circus Wheel with all of those bloody horses? The blood slowly crawling up the walls of the Church at the end? I love that sort of stuff.
And good lord, you've beaten SH1 on hard? I'm still on Normal. I shudder to think of School halls filled with the demon children...

Oh gods, that scared the crap out of me more than anything else. I can handle bloody walls. But fuzzy out of focus bloody walls? I need a nightlight.
The very best part of 3, though, was being able to shoot Claudia. Sure, you get a game over, but I hate that bitch so much.
SH1 on hard isn't that bad. It's mostly a matter of avoiding fights and conserving everything. Just, ah, don't try to get one of the bad endings. Alessa/Cheryl/goddess thing on Hard is a BITCH. Samael is much tamer in comparison.

The fuzziness was awesome.
Except for the Slurpers. Shittily conceived enemy, right there. And wouldn't you know it, the fuzzy hospital was filled with them.
I shot Claudia first chance I got, too. But mainly to see what would happen if you didn't use the aphalgotblablabla.
SH1's enemies do seem to be a lot easier to avoid than, say, some of SH3's monsters on Hard. (Those Pendulums are in my nightmares) And Alessa being a harder boss than Samael? Who would've thunk it? I'll give it a shot next time I pop SH1 in.

Alessa's attacks are harder to avoid, and she takes on less damage. There's also this big force field around her, so once you run out of rifle and shotgun rounds (and you will) you're stuck with handgun bullets which don't do SHIT long range. And when you're on Hard mode, if you run out of bullets, the fight doesn't automatically end like on Easy and Normal. Believe me, I tried...

Really, now? I did run out of ammo under Normal, but charging into the force field seemed to work quite well at that point, though, and helped bring the battle to a quicker end. Used up all of the health packs, of course...Delphine wrote:Alessa's attacks are harder to avoid, and she takes on less damage. As for Hard...

Apparently, after you run out of ammo, the battle ends after 300 seconds. Oh my.

Heh, I guess I just didn't live long enough to discover that, I always assumed the battle never ended. I'll have to have another go at it and see if I can last five minutes.aso wrote:Really, now? EXTREMELY LATE ON-TOPIC POST!!
Err, anyway:
1. PSO - Of course.
2. PSO 3 - Ditto... but to a lesser extent.
3. Soul Calibur 2 - My favorite 3d fighter so far... Plus, Xianghua can keep me "happy" on those lonely, deserted island nights
4.Gran Turismo 3 (or 4, depending if I get stranded late enough) - Maybe I can break the stereotype and learn how to be a good driver whilst still being Asian.
5. Zelda Collectors Disc thingie - Zelda 1, 2, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask on one disc... This is the game god would play if she had hands and fingers.
