I bought one of those lights so it would be easier to see, but those batteries don't last at all. Then Nintendo released the SP which I believe fixes these flaws to a certain extent- I was downed. The lesson: never buy anything at launch, you'll only be disapointed in the future, if what your buying is made by Nintendo that is.
I bought my SNES at launch... Never had any issues with that. Same for N64 and Gamecube, other than their total lack of third party games, but no one buys a Nintendo system for third party games, thats what a Playstation is for. Handheld systems just have shorter hardware cycles than consoles, perhaps to appeal to the shorter attention spans of their target audiences.
You should change that to "if what you're buying is made by Sony, that is" because... Well, original model PS1's and 2's are about as reliable as those condoms they sell at the 99 cents store. I'm trying to fool myself into thinking that the PSP will be durable, since they're so cool and I want one at launch, but past Sony hardware has left me bitter, cynical, and sterile.
