I also enjoyed FFXII, but not enough to finish that monstrosity. I liked that the game was absolutely huge and, as a consequence, a little rough around the edges; the exact opposite of, say, Portal perfection, where every single puzzle has a predetermined solution.
Gambits were also absolutely the best part of the game, too. Being able to "program" your computer's AI is something a lot of games would benefit from. Tales of the Abyss (a game which I, to my dismay, have sunk 180 hours into) has a very primitive version of this. I gather Monster Hunter Portable 3rd has a very similar mechanic as well.

So the alpha test has started and videos have begun to trickle in. This one is notable for being in HD and having a ton of dodge spam. There are a few more videos online but all in all its looking quite nice. If they put some cooldown on the dodge, tighten the combat, and improve the enemy difficulty/responsiveness I think it'll be grand.

That rappy in the video looked huge. This game looks awesome though. Shame it is pc only, would have loved to play it on xbox live.
