This topic was an epic exploration into the far reaches of going off-topic. I blame myself for not being clear.

Stuff I've done in the game:
* Played several concerts
* Fought in robot tournaments
* Helped a young artist rise into fame and into an early grave while performing an elaborate art deal scam
* Fixed a fight for money
* Collected clothing and posters
* Dug for fossils
* Screwed up a carpet delivery
* Saved an orphanage
* Taxied people around
* Walked around in nothing but some leaves and a smile, creeping out women
* Went on a very strange date with an incredibly flaming gay guy to get a movie
* Played music for money on street corners
* Crossed a desert
* Encountered a multitude of prostitutes
* Delivered letters
* Swam across a lake
* Blown up a giant submarine
* Helped a bunch of inbred hicks build a railroad
* Came up with a recipie that started a resteraunt
* Met an alternate reality version of the Wright Brothers
* Worked for a newspaper
* Annoyed some kids at a school
* Explored a yacht
* Met old men hiding accross the world
* Collected awesome license plates
* Combined old parts to make gigantic super parts
* Discovered I'm the quick and snobby son of an evil supervillain (I liked that better than the pimpin', playin' son of a baker)

And I'm just about at the halfway point of the game. I'm gonna make two saves - one for hero, and one for villain.

Damnit, guys, now I have to pick this game up, which means I have to go to the mall because the Wal*Mart and Strawberries near my house don't have it. I wasn't planning on going to the mall anytime soon for any reason other than visiting my friend at work. You people suck.

Wow, looking at Zeta's list, I wasn't even fully aware you could do so much crap. I officially need to get this game now.

I'm not sure if I can get it here (the furthest-from-anywhere-else point of the planet... yeah, noticeably more than Australia), but I'll do my bestest to try'n get it.

This doesn't have anything to do with anything, but that reminded me that the Blockbusters of here still rent Nintendo 64 games... don't know about the cartridges, at least the mortal rests of their boxes are there for show.

You're not kidding, are you? Well, that's it. Time to join the bandwagon.

As far as I can tell, there's only a hero and villain storyline for the last 30% of the game. : / I looked everywhere, and the only place where anybody mentioned a "Greedy" storyline was here, although there are Good/Evil/Greedy dialogue options and interaction choices.

I broke down and bought the game. It' everything I hoped for and more. One question, though. How do you remove something you've equipped? I feel like an idiot running around with a lamp everywhere.

You go to a mechanic's garage and have them unequip it.

I really was, planning on getting this game. I even had some money set aside for it. However, I read various impressions that this game is worth $35-$40, not the usual $50--which mostly have to do with the odd controls of the mech. Also, I already have a huge backlog of games including Dragon Quest VIII, which I am addicted to now.

Hopefully, by the time I've conquered most of my backlog, some chainstore will have a decent sale on this game before Atlus discontinues it.

The Trot controls pretty much like a katamari, so I haven't had any problem with it.

But does this game feature Japanese punk schoolkids sporting huge pompadours?

There's a punk rocker in the biggest city who will style your hair into a Japanese delinquent pompadour.

There's also a hairdresser who refuses to give you any hairdo other than an afro, much to his customer's displeasure. If you wear a sombrero while you have an afro the fro peeks out from beneath your hat.

Dude. DUDE. I need to get there, like, now. I was ridiculously excited when I got to the first barber shop. This game is awesome.

So... like, what? This is Japan's answer to the wildly successful GTA series?

Because that's what it sounds like. Minus Trot-jacking, I assume.

That, and a response to Capcom never getting their shit together and making Mega Man Legends 3.

The name "Vanillabeans" kind of loses its charm when it's split up into a first and last name. "Vanilla Bean" just doesn't have the same appeal. It seems like a solid enough translation except for that and the altogether unnecessary title change, but what the flaming retard shit diapers is up with that cover art?

They kind of apologize for it in the instruction manual and include the original cover art (Vanilla playing harmonica for Connie) on the instruction manual. Supposedly they needed something that showed the "exciting elements of the game to come through". In other words, they didn't think an American would buy a game feauturing two people sitting down and not blowing shit up.

My brother and I also succumbed to the allure of this thread and purchased the game today. So far it's pretty entertaining.

Just got our mining equipment. Hopefully we can make some money!

I more get the impression they were trying to appeal to the Cartoon Network teenyboppers with that pseudo-anime schlock, to say nothing of the flagrant disregard for every basic design and composition principle you're supposed to learn in high school art classes. If it had actually been some 16-bit American cover art nonsense drawn by a fifth rate fantasy artist whose full-time job was selling refrigerators at Sears, it wouldn't bother me nearly so much because I could laugh it off like I always used to, but now it just feels like they're deliberately attacking and profaning everything I've ever loved.

At least you can turn the voices off.

So what are you supposed to give Connie and Savory? I've played so far up to the desert battle with Bloody Mantis and I've only ever figured out that Connie likes donuts.
