Miyamoto grows a little more insane with each passing year. Not that it's a bad thing, really. Just noting a fact.

People who work in the entertainment industry tend to be more eccentric than your average Joe or Jill. Some are more eccentric than others.

At least we can sigh in relief that Miyamoto is very far from being a Micheal Jackson type of crazy.

Is Miyamoto that crazy? He strikes me as one of the most level-headed, down-to-earth names in the industry. He's even a middle child, for god's sake.

Just a couple months ago while discussing my senior project with Yeon, who is the head of the animation department at UL, I was asking her opinion on my artist's statement because I was afraid of making it too self-indulgent. She looked at me with an expression as though I'd failed to learn a single thing over the previous 4 years and said: "You can't be an artist without being self-indulgent."

I think that explains alot about Suzuki, who was trained in art. Not that I don't have respect for him.

Now Kojima, he's crazy.

I find the craziest guy in the industry was Nolan Bushnell... I mean he left Atari to run a chain of pizza places with large robotic rats... And whoever the person is who made the arcade where put fingers in assholes... That just doesn't set right...

I think that was called Boom-ga Boom-ga. If I recall correctly you were supposed to win the amazing prize of some plastic poo.

Hey, I'll bet you can make a home version of that using the DS!

Why do you need a video game to play putting fingers up someone's ass? If you're flexible enough, you can do that by yourself.

Just for the hell of it, I looked up an article on the game:

http://www.syberpunk.com/cgi-bin/index.pl?page=boonga

Sorry, its Boon-ga Boon-ga.

Seriously, they must put something in the water over in Japan, because how someone could come up with this game, let alone convince someone to fund it, is beyond me.

I think the game was made in Korea, actually. Not that the Koreans are any less messed up. Hey, I'm half, so I can say it.

Therein lies the problem.

Neither the older, responsible one everyone respects... nor the younger, innocent cute one everyone adores. No wonder they go mad with power, it's all a front to disguise their shame of being the unnoticed middle child!

No, the guy who's crazy is Tomonobu Itagaki. He's like some kind of James Bond villan turned game designer.

Kojima.. Kojima just kicks ass. Of course, I base this entirely on Tim Roger's mentionings of him.

Itagaki's off the wall, it's true, but nobody matches the mad balls of Hideo Kojima. His genius is in the details because he knows people are going to try to shoot all the bottles on the shelf, and sit on the toilets making poop noises, and try to sedate the hostage women and peek up their skirts. He has a profound understanding of his audience and how they play, but damn, how many times did he fail freshman Philosophy? And then he's all like: "Metal Gear Solid 2 will be my last one, I'm gonna hand the series over after that," then he's doing Snake Eater and he's all like: "Yeah, I'm back, 'cause nobody else wanted to do it." I mean Jesus, who'd want to deal with the convoluted bullshit that MGS2 devolved into?

Just like the last two Matrix movies.

That analogy is sadly all too true.

Certainly not Kojima, who goes on to create a prequel rather than follow his own lead with MGS2's ending.

I think he specifically ended MGS2 the way he did because he knew some other chump was going to have to pick up from there. I hear he's got a mean streak.

Naka does shit. Miyamoto is the closest thing the gaming industry has to a God.

Plus, I have the feeling that Miyamoto would kick Naka's ass in a fair fight.

But I don't think Naka would fight fair.

I think Acid is just his way of telling everyone he likes to go on trips... Hell that would explain why it is a card game now... I told this one guy about Episode 3 and he thought it was a great idea... Also look at some of the Magic players out there...

Actually, Yuji Naka said in an interview that Miyamoto is like the God of the gaming industry. He also said that Miyamoto has complemented Naka on his work as well.
