They've got this thing attached to the strap for the DS called the "thumb strap" or "thumb button" or something like that. Basically it's a little loop on the strap that you put your left or right thumb through, and you use that to touch the screen with. Kind of like a thimble, except for playing video games. It works like an analog stick, except not nearly as well.

I actually remembered about that the other day, so I looked in the DS box and I couldn't find it. I looked everywhere and STILL I couldn't find it. I wanted to try it to see if it had any different effect on gameplay, but alas, fate was cruel and decided against it.

For the record, the DS and Mario 64 DS has been consistantly selling out at my local Wal-Marts and GameStops. I have no idea why, really.

Same reason people lined up at midnight to buy Halo 2, I guess. The general public has an insatiable appetite for mediocrity.

Meh I disagree. Ever since the Team Slayer mode has been added to optimatch, I haven't been disatisfied.

There were reports that the 500,000 DS were sold in the span of 3 days in the U.S. I guess that makes it a success here. I expect the number of sales to jump(and the ebay prices to rice) during the last week before Christmas. I wouldn't call Mario 64 mediocre--in fact I find very few 3D platformers even today that wowed me like SM64 did and still does. Only this time the public can now play this game on the go and they would rather spend money on a handheld version of it(with added features) where you can get it brand new than to spend very little money on a used N64 console with the original SM64--also used.

He means your actual ears. Off. With something sharp and presumably rusty.

Halo 2 is definately overrated, but it is by no means mediocre. Just because you have something against FPS's doesn't mean they all suck. You've made the same argument to Popcorn about RPG's. However I don't want to turn this into a thread about Halo.

Oh and I've seen you playing Halo 2 on Live SuperKnux.

My brother and cousin had been playing it one long Saturday afternoon on my Live account, while eating hamburgers.

We haven't played it since though. The game wasn't even ours, it was our Halo-obsessed cousins' copy. Plus, it's never me that plays Live anyway. *sniff* The gaming biz has made me sad, as of late.

Mario 64 was an exemplary game 8 years ago on the N64. The fact that it's now the best game available on a new platform 8 years later is mediocrity. (Not that you ever get much else on handheld systems, mind you.) The ability to play as Yoshi and access crappy mini-games is not enough to qualify this as "new."

Plus, that using the touch screen to control characters is bullshit.

After playing a game like Half-Life 2, I'm suprised you even praise Halo 2, Pop.

Hey, why not? HL2 is far and away the superior of the two, but Halo 2's still a solid, enjoyable shooter. Fantastic multiplayer, too.

It's not the best game on the system. Feel The Magic is.

And using the touch screen to control the characters works perfectly well.

Really? I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like it would be a bitch. Definately not as good as an analog stick.

It's not nearly as good as the analog stick. Dache is either lying or delusioned.

Before you try it, you'll find yourself thinking 'what the shit is this, it's not going to work at all', but it does, and pretty nicely. It's only slightly worse than an analogue stick, and for a handheld I find that an acceptable compromise.

I have tried it, and saying it's only "slightly worse" than an actual analog stick is ridiculous. Sure, it's an acceptable alternative, but how hard would it have been for Nintendo to put an actual stick on the DS? The NGPC did it.

I'm sure they'll wait 6 months and bring out the Nintendo DSX which comes with an analog pad as standard.

The catch is, they remove the A button from every system with a claw hammer.

It could be sunk in a hole (for lack of a better word or description), also like the NGPC.

A "shallow" or "depression" will suffice. Incompetent whelp.
