I've really lost interest in games this year, but last year kind of gave me hope. Viewtiful Joe, Beyond Good and Evil, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, F-zero GX... these would all fall among my favourite games ever, period.
This year the only game that has made any impact on me thus far is Katamari Damacy. Of course, there's a ton of shit coming out this month that will probably change that, but man... where were the titles like that earlier this year? Don't get me started on that subject.

Either way, there's no way I'm watching it on Cartoon Network. If I have some cash when the DVD's come out, I may pick it up to see if it grabs me. Or perhaps I can persuade Spam into buying it, then just borrow the DVD's from him, which is a more likely scenario right now.
Since it's a TV series, I guess there are no nekkid boobies?

What's wrong with CN? Apart from their recent ratings obsession forcing them to move most of their good shows into obscene timeslots in favour of constant Miguzi and Sealab reruns, Adult Swim is pretty cool.Green Gibbon! wrote:Either way, there's no way I'm watching it on Cartoon Network. There are boobies, but no nekkid ones. That seems to be the case with most series' these days... I think American "sensibilities" are finally getting to them.
And ironically, Sloth is way hotter than Lust.

CN makes some crazy edits. You remember that part in Bebop, where Faye was chasing around the bounty, and she somehow ended up in a bedroom with two guys doing it? The bottom guy was edited out completely. It looked like the top was doing pushups. In bed. Under the covers. Naked. And that's the only ep I saw on CN, who knows what else they did.
That and dubs are always ass.

Yeah, I'm curious to what GG! has against CN--well more specifically, Adult Swim.
And how is something being a "TV Series" bad news? Cowboy Bebop and The Vision of Escaflowne were both TV series.
As for the dub comments, eh I fail to see Cowboy Bebop and Big O as ass-tastic dubs. Even Wolf's Rain--a show that I truly despise has a pro in that it has a very well acted dub. Actually, the dub quality varies from production to production and people to people.

Miss, those edits existed in 2001 when the block was new and hardly popular. The 2004 version of Adult Swim seems to very lax compared to other basic cable networks. The current anime they air is unedited save for the openings and eyecatchers. Shoot, with all the violence that appeared in Wolf Rain, certain nudity that appeared on Venture Brothers, and the allowance of certain vulgar words I would be more suprised if FMA did not run unedited.CN makes some crazy edits. Edits and censorship aside, I just plain ass will not watch a dub. It's completely irrelevant to me if the dub is good or if the original acting is bad, I simply refuse to accept a work out of context, even something as kitsch as a TV series.
That last part should also explain why I'm so wary of TV series... Typically, they're constructed with shallow, throwaway plots and humor schlocked together under ridiculously tight schedules and budgets. Of course even under these circumstances you occasionally get some quality productions, Cowboy Bebop being a prime exampe, but those are the rare exceptions. Fullmetal Alchemist may well be one of those... in which case, all the more reason why I shouldn't be watching it on Cartoon Network.

Homoerotic content edited out? That make Zeta angry! Zeta SMASH!CN makes some crazy edits. And yet, if it was two girls, they problably would've left it in there.

Hoax?
But I guess you can't argue with a plain text copyright notice in the corner, even if FUNimation, Inc. doesn't exist.

Quoted from another thread just a couple weeks ago:
Yeah, I mean really, this goes against everything I believe in and fight for, but the original Japanese version is just a generic children's anime with no outstanding qualities to speak of. The American version is basically like when you'd mute the volume on the TV and make up your own crazy dialogue and situations to what was going on, so that's the only thing that makes it appealing at all. It's almost a Mystery Science Theater sort of thing.

Heh, I remember that. And even more absurd is the fact the remaining guy had Faye's gun jammed in his mouth, something which prompted the other guy to speak... except he wasn't there.Delphine wrote:CN makes some crazy edits. And what about all the times CN'd digitally "paint" underwear on characters; heck, they'd even touch up scenes without nudity, but where someone (such as Faye on "CB") had excessive cleavage exposed.
And don't even get me started on their bowdlerized version of "Yu Yu Hakusho". Damn them.
At least I hear they're getting better.
P.S.: What does "Gainax" mean (it's used in the link, and I recognize the word, but I just don't know its meaning. Help)?
EDIT: My sorta 150th post, I guess...
I'm trying not to spam, honest...

Yeah, now they have somebody urinate in, like, two thirds of all "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" episodes.Ngangbius wrote:No, in 2001 they probably would have cut out any lesbian sex or any hetrosexual sex also.
But AS has changed drastically during those 3 years time.
I'm still waiting for Fujiko's boobs on "Lupin III", though.
Speaking of censorship, are genitals still banned in Japan even when not in a (hardcore) pornographic context? I've sometimes seen them uncensored in softcore stuff, but then the mosaics appear again. I don't get it.
