Gamecube. Shoomph. Doodle doodle doodle doodle doodle doodloodoodleooDOO-- DUM.
Have you ever tried holding Z while your Game Cube boots up, you get a different sound- better yet, hold Z on four controllers and you get an even weirder sound.

I've always been partial to Sega Rally and to a significantly lesser extent Daytona USA.

I wish start-up sounds took more advantage of surround sound setups. It would be cool if the GameCube start-up sound actually rotated around your speakers as the stupid cube thing rotates on your screen. Or whatever.

I don't think that made much sense.

Holding Z on 4 controllers plays that groaning or whatnot that plays during the episode title of Tenchi Universe.

You challenge me to a battle of onomatopoeia? HA!

The Lickitung minigame in the original Pokémon Stadium has that crazy "YAAOOOOHHHHHHH" thing. It made me afeard.

I think it's an "announcement yell" used at the beginning of Kabuki plays. I THINK . . . anyone want to try and clarify?

It's a mystery to me. I figured maybe in olden Japan they just ran around doing it for fun.

I believe that yeeeoooooh! Also can be heard in FF9, when Zidane and Dagger get married so that the guards will let them passed.

And for more useless trivia, did you know that if you hold start and select while you power on your GBA, the system essentially pauses and you get a bling, pressing start and select again gives you a slightly different bling, and the process continues as per normal- wonder what wierd alternate start up sound options the DS will have.

Saturn still not here... Maybe tomorrow.

I was under the impression that holding down start and select when booting up the GBA was to allow you to play link cable games when you had a cart still in the system.

Saturn has now arrived, along with Virtua Fighter 2, and Sega Rally and a nice stering wheel as well. However I still have a few questions: Why must I always set the day and the language every time I turn it on? And, is a memory card necessary? Thanks in advance.

Your battery needs a changin'. There's a little panel on the back where you can pull it out and replace it. It requires the same little lithium batteries that the Dreamcast VMUs do, CR20something, I get mine from Radio Shack.

The memory card is neccessary if you want to (presumably) save your game data forever, because every time you change the battery your memory wipes.

Good luck finding an operational Saturn memory cart, though. Aren't they supposed to expire after a certain amount of time? I know mine won't work at all anymore.

There appear to be a lot of sealed third party memory cards suprisingly enough, I gues that logic would point them to working but then again you can't really trust anything that's third pary.

Looks like there's no battery there at all...
Is fixing it really necessary, because I don't think I have the energy or common sense to replace it.

You don't need a battery to play, but you won't be able to save anything. Plus, you'll have to reset the clock everytime you start.

Forget what I just said, there was a battery, and I just went out and bought a pack of 5. Now that that's settled, how much memory can the battery hold before I need to go out and buy memory cards?

Depends on the game. Go to the memory manager from the CD player menu.

Righto, is this lil battery going to be adequate for saving, say: Nights, Burning Rangers, Sonic R, Sonic Jam and Panzer Dragoon 1 and 2. Just an estimate will be fine.
