Except for the last level, which is scrolling arcade shooter. In fact it appears that the entire new game is based purely on the final level of the 1st one.Dr. BUGMAN wrote:
Well, there's nothing entirely idiosyncratic about the first two games. The first levels of each had an upward-scaling levels that in one way or the other wrapped around sideways (in Myth & Monsters the screen would follow Pit, but in the original you'd appear at the opposite side of the screen).
That or Sin & Punishment 2, which Nintendo apparently forgot was coming out this month.

I thought they just didn't want to mention a game that was already more or less done and everyone knows about.Team Mecha wrote:That or Sin & Punishment 2, which Nintendo apparently forgot was coming out this month.

Not really, they've announced all the games people are calling demos now. SF64, LoZ:OoT, etc.Almost everything on display for the 3DS is a tech demo... n64 ports included. So there's not really much to get excited about, other than the hardware itself I guess!

Re: Daedalus must be proud.
My ideal Kid Icarus revival would've involved a "Night at the Museum"-style approach (minus Ben Stiller, of course) where Pit would be a glyph that would climb up Grecian pillars and pottery, and the boss labyrinths would be giant mosaics. All-in-all it'd play like M&M but with significantly more polish.
Alas.
Alas.

So where the fuck is Trico? Is there a new trailer I missed because it got smothered by all the coverage of hokey pokey controllers?

Incidentally, Raiden cutting that watermelon is the most technologically impressive thing I've seen from E3. How does that even work? Each of those pieces would have to be rendered and textured on the fly, and the textures would vary dramatically based on how you slice the melon, so the game would have to somehow understand where there should be green and where there should be pink.
Also, I thought that Splatterhouse game was cancelled? I wish it had been.

A new Last Guardian trailer/announcement is probably being held off until TGS.
Yeah, I was thinking about how MGS:Rising works on a technology level and it's pretty insane. A watermelon wouldn't be too bad because you basically have only a couple different textures; one for the outside and another for the insides. Thinking about how it'll work for humans and robots is even crazier.

Eh, didn't Wii Sports Resort do the same thing?Green Gibbon! wrote:Incidentally, Raiden cutting that watermelon is the most technologically impressive thing I've seen from E3. So the 3DS is rumored to allow you to install games on it. Interesting, and somewhat useful, though wouldn't this just make piracy easier? Seems counterintuitive for a company so resilient toward flashcarts, so maybe Nikkei is wrong this time.

I imagine the titular item would be a pair of boots that allow Link to get down.

It's surprising how much Zelda looks like her Twilight Princess encarnation in that ad.

Re: Daedalus must be proud.
My thought on this is that they might do something really drastic, like installing a game will flip a switch in the cartridge itself that makes it impossible to use, until the game is "uninstalled" back onto the cartridge. By the same method, once used, a game could be "keyed" to only work on a particular 3DS unit, completely destroying the secondary market. It sounds ridiculous (imagine the user backlash, especially once a workaround is established), but the way so many DS games only allow one game save, which I assume is to prevent people from even loaning the games to their friends, it doesn't seem that farfetched to me!K2J wrote:So the 3DS is rumored to allow you to install games on it. Re: Daedalus must be proud.
I can't find any reasonable explanation as to why game saves aren't written to some internal memory as is the rule with home consoles. The DSi already has built-in storage for the DSiWare, so it's not a technological barrier. They either want to milk the consumers or promote piracy (manual save backup).G.Silver wrote:It sounds ridiculous (imagine the user backlash, especially once a workaround is established), but the way so many DS games only allow one game save, which I assume is to prevent people from even loaning the games to their friends, it doesn't seem that farfetched to me!

Right, because Donkey Kong Country Returns, Xenoblade, Excitebike, Excitebots, Metroid: Other M, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Zangeki no Reginleiv, Monster Hunter Tri, and Red Steel 2 DO NOT EXIST.By the way, Wii fans asked for hardcore games, and all they got was Galazy 2 and the promise of a new Zelda game...

They come from an alternative dimension 1 year ago where Metroid Other M was never announced apparently.FlashTHD wrote:Such an awful, bizzare place these messages must transmit from.Arcade wrote:By the way, Wii fans asked for hardcore games, and all they got was Galazy 2 and the promise of a new Zelda game...
