I knew about the Scrap Brain one; the Flying Battery one I'd seen before, but had conveniently forgotten. I knew about the ring, at least; you can easily get to it from the exit on the right, which is how I usually get at it.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
I'm not even sure myself.

Okay, so you people do know there's a rock you can push in Angel Island act 1?

... or about the way to reach hidden routes in Flying Battery by riding those air-lifts through the floor?

Or how to reach that secret powerup chamber in Mushroom Hill act 2 just before the boss?

And that those sinking rocks in Lava Reef act like a spring if you stand on them long enough? Or how to get Knuckles into Sonic's Lava Reef act 1 at the very beginning of the level?

Or how to piss off emerald-powered Metal Sonic enough for him to spin-attack you? And speaking of final bosses, you can defeat Egg Fingers really fast by using spindash - did you know that?

...how about my personal favorite, that Sonic is considered the boss of the short Lava Reef vs. Knuckles fight - meaning, if he touches Knuckles while he doesn't glide, roll or punch (try having him drop on you after gliding through the air, or grab control of Tails and just carry Sonic's feet straight to the poor bastard's forehead - but avoid his knuckles) ... Knux will be the one to get hurt..?

... goddamit, I know there are more, I just can't recall them. (Need to replay this awesome game ASAP, or I might eventually forget all of its secrets!)

That's. Huh. I dunno, I guess it's well hidden, and I did play S3&K a little too much when I was a kid, but still. You guys. :|

Apparently I held right to win except when I was standing next to that particular set of spikes in Flying Battery.

I didn't know about the Scrap Brain Zone secret. There was no indication or precedent.

I usually got the Flying Battery Zone secret ring from the side entrance.
Or how to reach that secret powerup chamber in Mushroom Hill act 2 just before the boss?
I've done this tons of times, but I'm still not exactly sure how it works.
Or how to piss off emerald-powered Metal Sonic enough for him to spin-attack you?
I'm not sure about this one?

How about Knuckles' "get going" animation in Sky Sanctuary Zone if you have Sonic crouch next to him?

When you take the pulley thing up, use the left-side handle.

While he's flying around, try to follow him by gliding. Eventually he'll get angry and roll into you.

Wow, I completely forgot this!

Hm, does the somewhat false bottomless pit near the very end of Sonic's Lava Reef act 2 count as secret? Because there's a 1up down there on the right (even though you can't escape after reaching it as Sonic alone), and a bunch of lava waterfalls to the left.

Also, there are horizontal pistons in a few of Flying Battery's secret routes - I don't think you ever get to see those normally.

Same here. And even then, for years I didn't know Flying Battery even had Special Stage rings. I don't think I found out until I toyed around on Sega Mega Collection.

Found out those Flying Battery pushable spikes by pure chance when I was still somewhat shit at jumping them over to get to the magnetic elevator platform thing, so I kept pushing against it in hopes of successfully getting to it and ended up finding the secret entrance. You can also push things by standing next to them and spin-dashing.

Oh my god I'm going to try this out right now thanks j.

By the way, my first print American Sonic Adventure (I know its first print 'cause it has some flowery pattern on the readable surface, you can find more about that here) doesn't seem to have the ripple effect on the title screen. I was really looking forward to it when I first fired it up. :(
