Anthropomorphic comes from the Greek ánthrōpos (human) and morphos (form). A talking washing machine could be called anthropic because it has a human persona, but unless you changed its physical form to more closely resemble a human you wouldn't call it anthropomorphic. The word's probably been tossed around like that so much that it's come to encompass non-physical characteristics, but it really shouldn't. And that's my grammar nitpick of the month.Dr. BUGMAN wrote:Re: anthropomorphism. It is just plain giving a non-human thing distinctly human traits. (i.e. having a dog or washing machine talk is anthropomorphism)

If it's still cubic and limbless, it's anthropic. Probably.
Anyway, since we're still on this subject (and apparently, allowed to link to DeviantArt), this guy makes some rather good points regarding the lewd reputation furry artists (and the furry fandom as a whole) have; it's on the second half, but the entire report is worth a read.
So, back to 3D Dot Heroes... yeah, it looks really pretty, despite showing signs of being a bit TOO inspired by old-school Zelda - I mean, the trailer even had a chicken attack!

Re: 3D Dot Heroes
That was an interesting read. Not just that page, but all 4 parts. That being said, no matter how much I may be able to tolerate furries, I think I'd probably rather die than go to Anthrocon. :E
Or I could do what that guy on Page 4 did and disguise as a Team Fortress 2 Spy disguised as a fursuiter. None would be the wiser.

Please, next you'll be suggesting anthropomorphic pumpkins.CM August wrote:What if you stuck some googly eyes on it?

I've learned something here. Nothing about furries, but rather not to make an off-hand comment about them. Here at least.
I could've rather made a pedophilia joke regarding Linebeck. It gets lonely out on the open sea.

And may you never make that mistake again.
Linebeck never really left much of an impression on me. Then again, all of Phantom Hourglass failed to leave much of an impression on me (other than "God the sailing is even MORE tedious than it was before - at least it was vaguely enjoyable in Wind Waker - and oh God, that dungeon on the starting island; whose bright idea was that"), so not being enamored by a linebacker, especially given my apathy for football, is probably the least of my worries.

I can't decide what's better: chunky or smooth peanut butter.

Generally, I'd say smooth, but then I haven't tried chunky ever since I actually got into peanuts (like, not as butter, but on their own), so I might appreciate it a bit more now.

I wasn't worried about the low-slung camera angle, but it seems to be used to in tandem with sections to recreate--along with everything else--the NES Zelda feel.
Also, sword upgrades that put that FF "men" to shame.

I think they've officially hit the point where Nintendo can sue them now.

It's hilarious how the "2D 3D" Zelda game people have been asking for isn't coming to a Nintendo platform.

Good news! It's coming stateside courtesy of Atlus. And it's retailing at a mere 40 dollars, too.
Gotta get me a PS3.

40 dollars?
I thought this garbage was a 15 dollar PSN game.

I think it kind of flopped over here. I'm still waiting for the PSN demo, but frankly, apart from the novel visual style, it kind of looks like ass.
Which means it should be right at home in the From Software catalog.

I don't take flopping in Japan indicative of the quality of any game, especially console games.

You've got to give them points for trying though. I'd like to see this engine reused for other games actually, albeit with better graphics more akin to glorious 16-bit ones rather than sub-par 8-bit.

Re: 3D Dot Heroes
People complain for the past 10 years that Zelda games haven't developed any.
This company's solution: Make a Zelda game with intentionally crappy graphics and remove the recognizable name and characters.
Brilliant.
