Retro. They got something on one of their franchises. They got Ninja for Metroid. Retro for Zelda?Fuck to the yes. It looks like Retro may be doing the long-promised FPS-style Zelda.

NSMB on DS was awful, I hope they can improve their game for the Wii version. The co-op stuff doesn't really apply to me since I don't exactly have many gamer friends.

Galaxy 2 is a surprise. I've, tragically, only played the original briefly but I immediately understood why it was so lauded. This new footage looks pretty good.

Metroid: Other M looks awesome, though. I know people who'd cry foul at taking the series so far away from its roots but damn I don't care.
[EDIT] Also holy shit I just realised it features Adam.

I watched their entire E3 thing today and everything was generic or awful. The only thing I liked was the accessory that lets us finger things in-game.

Nintendo's obsession with old women has killed any enjoyment I got out of their games.

I worry that Nintendo has decided that Mario, Metroid & Zelda are the only franchises that can please the hardcores. Mario & Metroid already had their turns on the Wii & they're at bat again while Kid Icarus, Kirby, Star Fox, F-Zero & Pikmin are still on the bench (goddamn Star Fox with the IR pointer would be awesome).

On the other hand They both look so utterly amazing I don't know why I'm complaining at all.

Reggie has hinted at some Pikmin love at the roundtable, currently happening... right now. We'll see how that works out.

No, I have the same fears you do. Mario, Metroid, and Zelda have all already appeared on the Wii. I don't mind these new entries, but I could probably do without Galaxy 2, in favor of a fresher experience. Considering I never got far after I finished the story of SMG, I wonder if this new one will be intriguing at all to me.

Well, they are producing Sin and Punishment 2. Personally, I'll take that over a new Starfox any day.

Zelda Wii re-confirmed. Unfortunately, no pictures of the logo Miyamoto presented during the liveblog (they didn't allow pics or vids).
Kotaku wrote:8:03 He did bring the main illustration foe next zelda title

8:05 He would love to bring in he sword play and archery
8:05 But he wants to make sure everyone can enjoy the game
8:07 The painting for the new zelda had link standing with his back to us his head turned so we could see his face.
IGN wrote:Shows new illustration for the next Zelda for Wii. Nothing to show yet, but it shows an adult link. More grown up than ever before.

Also,
IGN wrote:Wii is already being overpowered by what's happening on screen in New Super Mario Bros Wii. So no power left for online.
A co-op 2.5D platformer is too energy-intensive to be online? I mean, not like I was expecting online, but to cite the system's weakness that bluntly...

Actually, the Zora went extinct in the flood timeline because they were turned into bird people for some reason, so it has to be in the regular timeline.

Miyamoto said regarding new Zelda wii and Pikmin 3:

* Zelda Wii will probably use the Wii Motion Plus and focus on switching between archery and swordplay.

* Pikmin 3 is progressing, but their team is too small to really have anything to show currently - but the two main points for the game will be making it easy to control and adding more content and depth than the previous 2.

Star Fox and F-Zero definitely need to be dusted off for late 2010/early 2011, though. It would be very nice to see a new Kid Icarus, but after the project stalling already, I doubt it'll be any time soon. Kirby gets love, but he's mostly been regulated to handhelds since Kirby 64, which is where the series started anyways. They should get the Excitebots team and SEGA to cooperate on F-Zero Wii.

It's just Link in his mid-20's instead of being 10 or 17.

There's also Donkey Kong. You know... the series that was among Nintendo's top-sellers until they let it die off for no reason.

I didn't really think Galaxy needed a sequel. This new one seems to continue the trend of really creative level designs and sort of uninspired bosses, to the point where it's basically an expansion pack, but still that's not such a bad thing. Galaxy was the first Mario game to have a subtle and mildly interesting storyline so I'll be interested to see if they fuck that up.
Zeta wrote:* Zelda Wii will probably use the Wii Motion Plus and focus on switching between archery and swordplay.
This was something I felt that Twilight Princess didn't capitalise on. Combat on the Wii version was actually a lot *less* fun and intuitive than the Gamecube version, which really ought to be a crime of some sort. This could definitely be something to look forward to, especially if Retro are at the helm.

Goodie. I really liked Pikmin so I'm glad it's being given to a small studio with a long schedule. "Good controls" and "more content" is about a vague a promise that can be made, though, so I guess I'll hold off on excitement until more details emerge.

To me, it's like they gave the series to Michael Bay - I expect there will be boobs and explosions instead of a focus on exploration. But I'm hoping its break from its roots will give an RE4-like result. I'm skeptical, but can't talk because I still haven't gotten around to playing Prime 3 (I'll get Trilogy for sure).

Does anyone else think that the graphics engine looks similar to Ninja Gaiden?

Woo! Mario Galaxy 2!

About three years ago, the first The Simpsons movie teaser was released, revealing the films existence to the world. Since then, no news of any importance have come out from the world of entertainment. UNTIL NOW!

Oh dear gracious mother of God in heaven, i thought i would probably be married and maybe even started go bold before i would get to play another installment of the main Mario series! God bless you Nintendo, you bring life to those who otherwise have none!

Amen to that!

Obviously, I'm excited to see what Super Mario Galaxy 2 and this new Zelda game turn out to be like. Oddly enough though, I'm most curious about New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It's great to see the Koopalings again, and the first game was so bare-bones that there's room for a lot of development in the sequel. As interesting as 3D Mario has proven to be, I don't think his 2D game is out of tricks yet.

I think the reason was that only Rare was actually interested in making games starring Donkey Kong and Nintendo itself didn't give a damn.

That seems to be the case, which is insanely stupid. Having that sort of attitude towards what proved to be a consistently successful series is mind-boggling.

On one hand, this is Nintendo and I should have expected something like this.

On the other hand, why Nintendo would ever try this without online boggles the mind.
