Was Gonna say, don't those ears enable him to fly a bit? what where they thinking?
Well, at least the true design won, that's all that matters I guess.

Looks like, during this twelve years interim, the entirety of Phantomile has learnt to speak in perfect moospeak, as opposed to just Klonoa himself in Namco × Capcom.
I liked the original's character expressivity better, as showed here (2:28).

Always looking for ways to screw up a game! First they considered changing the characters, and now they're ensuring a groanworthy dub for the western release. Thanks a bunch, Namco.

Re: Wahoo Anew
Dub? I swear the characters in Klonoa spoke gibberish. Is there really going to be a dub?
Okay, I just checked, apparently both gibberish and voice acting are available. It'd be nice if they bothered to give all three options. I'm probably going to set it to gibberish.

That's a relief! Klonoa without gibberish is like, Panzer Dragoon with out... gibberish. Also dropped for most of PD Saga. xD I forget if there was gibberish in the Xbox one?

Let's put it this way - videos exist of the US version, and Klonoa has a distinctly lower, more teenage-ish voice.Cuckooguy wrote:Dub? I swear the characters in Klonoa spoke gibberish. Is there really going to be a dub?
Enough said.
Speaking of PDS, I just finished it. And I have to say, breaking the fourth wall? Seriously?

But bold! It didn't really work, but I respected them for trying. Didn't detract from the awesomeness of the game, at any rate.

Dub issues aside, the game is looking pretty faithful, right? Because I'm pretty excited about this. I really enjoyed the PS2 and GBA Klonoa titles, but I never had a chance to play the original!

Re: Wahoo Anew
They've changed the look of some of the levels in a way that looked really accurate to me at first but when I saw the side-by-side comparison shots I was a little disappointed with the new look being so different. But since it initially fooled me into thinking it was spot-on, I will forgive it. I don't imagine the gameplay is changing any.

I'm willing to compromise some art direction for an altogether faithful export, which this mostly looks like it is.
Mostly.
Mostly.

Klonoa's original giant collar look and his Klonoa 2 blue shirts are unlockable costumes. Nice. : )
They added one new move: Klonoa can now shoot a tornado that stuns enemies.I don't imagine the gameplay is changing any.

I wonder, why do actually find Klonoa cute, while Cream does absolutely nothing for me in that regard? I mean, they're both cartoon bunnies specifically designed to be cute, and they do look a lot alike. Do anyone else here find similar mysteries keeping them awake at night?

You don't find Cream cute because Cream is a fucking horribly designed character. You have nothing to worry about.

1) Cream's eyes are very plain and generic cartoon eyes while Klonoa has kitty eyes. Well-designed eyes do a LOT for a drawn character.I wonder, why do actually find Klonoa cute, while Cream does absolutely nothing for me in that regard? 2) Cream's outfit is atrocious and generic.
3) Her color scheme is almost stereotypically offensive and fairly bland.
4) Floppy ears are always considered cuter than pointy ears.

Not to bump a topic to add nothing of real significance, but this game is hard as hell to find. I don't think Namco expected this to sell as well as it is.
I think this bodes well for a Klonoa 2 remake or maybe even Klonoa 3.

Gamestops were selling them early for only $30, I managed to snatch the last one up at my store. I've only played the second one but I'm enjoying it very much.

Bought my copy, but haven't played it yet. Too busy playing through Majora's Mask for the first time, see.

I generally avoid buying at Gamestop. Only I break the seal on new games.
And it's thirty bucks everywhere, which I think was an excellent move on Namco's part; it hooks a much larger fanbase to sell future installments to.

I've been looking for this outside of GameStop because I hate buying from them because they're doucebags, but dammnit non-Gamestop retaliers - I can't support you by buying my games from you if you refuse to stock the games I want to buy, fuckers!

Where else do you go? It's not like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Toys R Us, or the other alternatives are any less heartlessly corporate, and it's not like there are small-business game shops that sell new games. The only downside to buying new from GameStop is the opened package deal, which you can just refuse if they push it on you. And if you want to boycott them, just don't partake in their used games or trade-ins, since that's where all the money's made.Zeta wrote:I've been looking for this outside of GameStop because I hate buying from them because they're doucebags, but dammnit non-Gamestop retaliers - I can't support you by buying my games from you if you refuse to stock the games I want to buy, fuckers!

Re: Wahoo Anew
I bought it from GameStop myself. Had a $25 gift card to kill, and, well, what better way...?
Okay, I've cleared Vision 1 (ie: up to the first boss). Seems like they've kept all the music from the original, which is good, since I always found mid-'90s game music had this strange, surreal feel to it. Maybe it's the reverb or something, I dunno. NiGHTS has the same thing. Granted, this only really plays a part in Vision 1-2, with the cave tune, but still... You just don't GET that much anymore, everything seems so flat in comparison. Christ, it's making me wish I was proficient in music just so I could explain what it is...

Perhaps moreso than you think:Dr. BUGMAN wrote:I think this bodes well for a Klonoa 2 remake or maybe even Klonoa 3.
(Yeah, it's Wikipedia, from but it does cite a source.)Wikipedia wrote:Hideo Yoshizawa, the executive director/producer of the Klonoa series has stated the if the series was well received, he is willing to remake Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil for the Wii, and will likely make a Klonoa 3 afterwards, to develop the character.
Which is great, because I've been waiting for Klonoa 3 for years now. If it ever gets made, I hope it continues from Klonoa 2, and not that alternate storyline from the Game Boy Advance games.
