Let's face it. If she killed Harry, she'd be an even crueler bitch than the one that killed all the supporting cast; if she didn't, she'd have gone soft; and if she little-Column-A-little-Column-B'ed it, it'd be cheap. Let's face it, when there's this much anticipation, no ending could ever satisfy the bookmongers.

I'm a lightly casual HP fan (would be a normal fan in any regular medium) and enjoyed it. Felt it was more in line with 1-4 than the last two installments, whose plots seemed too hindered by their own red tape. This is unadulterated despair punctuated by soaring triumphs instead of the legalese wait-and-see lurching into sudden climax method five and six employed.

Well, you can kill the main guy and make it good, like Flash II in the REAL crisis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_(Bar ... n)#Tragedy

I know it was in a comic, but I dont remeber any good good death in books, unless you count The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book series.

Hitchhiker's Guide - whose deaths were good in that? My favorite character, Fenchurch, just disappears with zero explanation.

The ending With Harry/Ron/Hermoine and their kids reeked of a 16-year old girl's fanfiction. And so many questions are still in the air.

who owns Hogwarts now? Did Harry help raise Tonk's kid? And we never even saw Harry ACTUALLY GRADUATE from Hogwarts, yet every single book in the series has been about his studies at said school. I think a "one year later" would've been better.

Also Voldemort's death was very lame. "5-page exposition. Boom you're dead." I mean, Voldemort just keeled over. Talk about a lame character death.

Well, I saw an article in the news sometime last week where Rowling answers a few more of the "what happened to them" mysteries.

As far as I can remember, Harry is eventually named Head of the Auror Office by Kingsley Shacklebolt, and Ginny goes to play for some female Quidditch team--obivously they later both get married, bang around, and have three kids. Ron went on to work at Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, and Hermoine went to work at the Misitry of Magic, promoting more rights for other magical creatures (i.e. house-elves and centaurs and the like), then she and Ron both fell in love, got married, banged, and had their kids.

Raiding bookstores to spoil Harry Potter is your idea of partying?
Cruel fun. Simple. It's fun for assholes who like to be mean to people.

Can be funny if you're feeling devious. Like I am now.

Oh..

Something I noticed about the book.. When Harry visits his parents graves, it says they died in 1981. Now, Harry was a baby then. So if he was around in 1981, shouldn't he be 26 or something?

26 in 2007 yes, but he entered Hogwarts at 11, 1 book = 1 year, 7books = 7 years, then he's 17 in the last book. We can say the last book is set in 1998

I was surprised that most of the ending didn't answer any questions that we couldn't have assumed on our own, without it. There was mention of one of Harry's sons calling Teddy his cousin and that he was there so often it might have been easier for him just to move in.

Yeah, one-year later or a couple years later would've been better. So much stuff happens every year at Hogwarts and then, not too much noteworthy happens in the 19-years later. It did bring the entire series full-circle though.

I think wanting answers to these questions just gives testament to how good it is though.

Yeah, in those nineteen years Harry and Ron revolutionize the Auror Department, Harry is Department Head, and Hermione is like a famous wizarding lawyer. But she didn't want to bother putting that in the epilogue, she wanted to talk about the kids! :D

The huge gap near the ending loks a bit suspicious to me, I know JK Rowling is saying this is the last book, but I bet she'll have the mini adventures, post-Voldemort, coming along not too far in the future.

This is the last storybook, but she's planning on releasing an encyclopedia of the Harry Potter world later.
