The very idea that they were able to license two different cartoons is pretty amazing in the first place. I know if I were getting the rights to make a cartoon based on a video game, I'd be pretty pissed if some competing company ALSO had the rights to it. I suppose since one was a weekday show and the other was a weekend they were not in direct competition?

I'll probably pick it up when it comes out. I was a big fan of the show in my childhood. (best. theme song. ever.)

I was a bit mixed on the show as a whole. I started out as a fan of the games, but felt the series improved on the games in some ways, such as Tails' color change from orange to brown, (becuase a real fox would be colored brown. I also was so used to brown Tails on AoSTH, that I began to hate orange Tails in the games, becuase he didn't look the same..)

I also thought SatAM improved on Eggman/Robotnik's design, becuase he looked more sinister than his goofy appearance in the games. Eggman/Robotnik had such deadly weaponry in the games, yet looked so goofy. I wanted Sonic to fight a truly evil villian, rather than some clumsy Looney Tune.

However, there were a lot of things I disliked about the show. I always wanted to see Super Sonic, but he never appeared. Chaos Emeralds were nonexistent. Tails was 'too young' to go with Sonic to stop Robotnik, yet in the games, Tails was always by Sonic's side. I liked the 'sidekick' relationship Tails had to Sonic in AoSTH, and would've like to have seen it used in SatAM, since SatAM was more serious, and better animated. (sometimes 'too' serious, which is a big negative) I also disliked the absence of Knuckles, and that insipid backstory on Princess Sally and the "King of Acorns" (gag me) plus, all of the wolves and dragons made it feel entirely different from the games.

There were some gems on the show, such as the one where Tails befriended some creatures (I forget what they were called) when nobody else wanted to spend time with him.

And that one episode where Robotnik sent a bunch of buzzbombers to attack Knothole.

And probably some more i'm forgetting.

The features seem nice, but I would've like have the old ABC Saturday Morning bumpers for the show, but then there'd be royalties and such to Disney, and that would seem rather frivelous for some 10 second ads.

Here's hoping for AoSTH season sets!

Actually Silv, both cartoons were made by the same company... DiC. My understanding is that Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog came first, but that ABC passed on airing it because they thought it looked cheap. (As most DiC series tend to.)

So, Adventures went straight to syndication, and a separate, "bigger budget" cartoon was created specifically for ABC.

Actually, they were both made by the same company. I think AoStH was originally intended to air on ABC, but they thought it sucked and told them to make a different show, otherwise Sonic wouldn't appear on thier lineup. They then made SatAM, and AoStH got booted to its snydicated weekday run.

EDIT:D'oh, he replied around the same time I was writing this...

Corrected twice! I would have thought they'd fish the show concept around a bit before actually, y'know, producing it. That's funny that they rejected it.

Well width games would you close to make a long long Sonic story?, staying close to the games as possible, but without rings…

Sonic the comic (UK) was the best Sonic comic adaptation, in some on the earliest stories; they even had Sonic fighting a crazy "extra life"...

And they did the normal Super Sonic as a bad guy before anyone else…

Did my brain just die, or did that sentence make absolutely no sense to you too?

No, that really made no sense at all. And I'm usually pretty good at translating stuff like that.

Well actually, it-- no. Didn't make a lick 'o sense.

P.S: The blank expression on your avatar would've made a sufficent enough response.
