Someone recorded an entire path in the Shadow game

Basically: This game is going to be awful.
It's the same of that bland, meaningless nonsense. The only thing you really want to do is see the person get to the end of the level, and ultimately end the game. It's all that on rails stuff, with only one path to take, and no actual challenge. Enemies can be attacked with that stupidly irritating homing jump move over and over again, and die. And they waddle about a bit too.
As the entire game is designed to be gone through as quickly as possible, there is no particular attention to detail anywhere, no areas which you can play about in or explore, no real puzzles or challenging factors, but just another setpiece with a few enemies inside it for you to bash away at. There's no feeling of any actual point to play - the only thing this kind of game tests is your ability to hold down the thumbsticks forward.
Essentially, this is Sonic Heroes but with only one character. The only thing going for it is the branching level structure, which really just means more tedious levels to go through. To add to the Heroes-esque feel, at the end you can see there is a selection for 'last story', meaning there's some penultimate level with the true ending.
The FMV was nice though.

Gwilym is dead right: this game is fucked to Hades and back. There's like 7 things happening on the screen at any time, and not in a good way. It's like the polar opposite of the Genesis games; wheras the gameplay back then was fairly simple but had a lot of depth to it, this thing is ridiculously shallow and complex. Everything is thrown in your face, including your partner characters who never shut the fuck up.
It's like the culmination of everything I hated in SA2 and Heroes, except taken to even further lengths.

Gee, all that from an alpha? To be honest, I somewhat liked what I saw; I saw a lot of branching paths in the levels, most specifically the three-ways in Westopolis. The dialogue seems pretty good, the only exception being Charmy's; speaking of that, his voice is worse than ever. I know, I know, Sonic X voice actor, but I expected at least the guy who does Bokkun to do Charmy. So, what else is there... The enemies seems to take less hits than Heroes, which is good, because I feared you would have to hit them, like, twenty times like you would in Heroes. Sadly, the enemies in the game stay the same per level, unlike the classics where the enemies would change depending on the "zone" theme. I don't know guys, I know this game will at least be better than Heroes, but that's not saying much at all. It's still an alpha, so hopefully SEGA will fix all those goof-ups I see in the video. How long ago was that version displayed at that German convention, like, two months ago? And the game has another two months to come out. Ah, I'm still excited for the game and I think it looks alright from what I saw.

What I meant was, well, you know in City Escape, where if you tired to take other roads outside of the main road you're suppose to be on, an invisible wall blocks you with a flashing green arrow? Well, when I saw those other roads in Westopolis, I figured you could access them without that invisible wall blocking you.j-man wrote::)Professor Machenstein wrote:I saw a lot of branching paths in the levels, most specifically the three-ways in Westopolis.
EDIT: Here's the part I speak of.

Not really. Charmy does harm it though. He has music notes after everything he says. But I was fond of this.Frieza2000 wrote:So, how's the story? Is the dialogue as bad as Heroes?

The characters do talk a lot though, but it really doesn't bother me as much as it does everyone else. Shadow does cuss a couple of times, but everything else was on par with Sonic Adventure 2, dialouge-wise.

i'll go buy it i guess....then, once i've played the hell out of it, only then, will i make a final judgement.
and i definetly don't want him to kill himself. am i the only one here who likes Shadow?
i myself always figured Shadow was an actual living being and that (no matter how impossible it must be) he survived the fall to earth. The android scenario was my ideal explanation. I hope it's the true ending. And that Shadow kills himself in despair.

Is not that impossible, some Shadow fans say that that green light at the end of SA2 wasn’t Shadow disintegrating in the atmosphere but Chaos control.Zaranth wrote:i'll go buy it i guess....then, once i've played the hell out of it, only then, will i make a final judgement.
