I saw them in concert a few years back, and they were honestly quite good. They're decent players, and they have a ton of energy. Great show. They just write very generic songs. All things considered, that's not SO bad. I mean, if Nickleback was the worst thing on the radio, the radio would be much better than it is now.

I guess that's true, there is a helluva lot worse out there on the radio. There's also the fact that every rock radio station deems it necessary to play "Tom Sawyer," "Hey You," and "Crazy Train" every five minutes weighing the radio down.

The only song of theirs I ever liked was "Never Again," and that was only because I could yell along with it when I was driving.

I'll agree they're not the worst - that honor is reserved for Linkin Park - but it's kind of like saying you're going to vote for George Bush because he's not Hitler.

Or like saying you're going to vote for Kerry because he's not Bush. *cough*

Which is no doubt the main reason anyone will vote for Kerry.

They both suck. There's no question about that. The question is, which one is going to spit and who's going to swallow?

Or something.

There ARE other parties, you know.

Please. Until something drastic happens, there are only two parties. Everything else is a wasted vote.

I don't like it, but it is how it is.

What annoys me is that if every person who didn't vote libertarian because "there's no way we'd win" would actually vote libertarian, the party would be a major force.

I somehow doubt that. I don't think any one state has enough libertarians to actually win. They could fuck it up for another party though.

Who the heck are Libertarians? They sound like librarians with a bad headache and a mission.

My mom accidentally ordered a Nickleback CD, mistaking them for Nickel Creek, a country/folk band. Heh.

Libertarians are a group of Americans who try to form a third party. The only thing they agree on is that they don't like Democrats and Republicans.

Aside from that, one Libertarian can be extremely different in political views as another, but they like to pour themselves into one group to annoy the Republicrats.

I mean "major force" in the sense of "enough to upset to the normal republicrat order". If a third party has enough of an effect to change an outcome in a state, the other two parties will be forced to take measures to appeal to the libertarian voters (a good thing).

As long as the electoral college controls things, I can't see a third party gaining any power at all. Maybe a little more press, but little else.

They should just put "Do-Over" on the ballot and see how many people vote on that.

On the topic of Nickelback, I used to think they were pretty good and I actually bought one of their CDs, but I've lost a bit of respect for them now (mostly due to the fact that I've lost respect for most music).

As far as all this political party mumbo jumbo goes, it's true that Kerry isn't the greatest candidate in the world, but can he really be any worse than Bush? If I were asked my main reason for voting for Kerry (even though I'm not old enough to vote), it would be because Bush is a complete and total idiot.

And if you're gonna vote for an Independent candidate, that's the same thing as voting for Bush. Do you think Independent candidates swing voters that would normally vote Republican? No. They wing voters that would normally vote Democrat, thus screwing Kerry over and helping Bush win (much like what Nader did to Gore in Florida, despite the fact that Gore won the overall popular vote anyways).

Homer: America, take a good look at your beloved candidates. They're
nothing but hideous space reptiles. [unmasks them]
[audience gasps in terror]
Kodos: It's true, we are aliens. But what are you going to do about
it? It's a two-party system; you have to vote for one of us.
[murmurs]
Man1: He's right, this is a two-party system.
Man2: Well, I believe I'll vote for a third-party candidate.
Kang: Go ahead, throw your vote away.

---

Marge: I don't understand why we have to build a ray gun to aim at a
planet I never even heard of.
Homer: Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.

I believet that Scott Adams said that leaders and bosses have two different axises on which they're measured by.

X is intelligence - Smart or Stupid
Y is alignment - Good or Evil.

Obviously, the ideal one for a president and a leader would be Smart and Good.

What we have with Bush is both stupidity and evil. Like a child with a machinegun who's gained a taste for blood.
