Zelda definitely still has intergrity. Not every game in the series is a classic, especailly recently, but they're definitely all still respectable efforts. I mean, there's no Zelda fucking Pinball or whatever.

Metroid has survived pretty much unscathed so far. But now that it is Nintendo's go-to "adult" franchise, I worry there are going to be a lot more games and some of them are going to suck it up.

And hey, Kirby only really has one blemish to his name so far, unless you count that awful television series!

Doesn't Metroid have a pinball game coming up? Not to say that's destroying the franchise, it actually looks rather cool, and somewhat dark, as if it were a "real" pinball machine.

It's from the same guys that made Mario Pinball.

Plus, I think it looks pretty bad on its own merits to begin with.

And that amount would be ass.

I'd say Metal Gear as a whole has had it's ups and downs, but they seem to make consistant improvements, in my opinion.

But hey, let's wait for Popcorn to see this and bitch about the series as a whole. We'll make a sport of it.

I don't think there has, the first was superb (have it on Sega Smash Pack 2). I just hope Shining Force Neo doesn't plow the series into the ground.

I hear Shining Tears was pretty crappy. And Shining Force Neo doesn't look good to me. This makes me sad, especially since these are the first new console Shining games since the Saturn.

I wish Sega would stop screwing around and go for the real deal, Shining Force IV. Supposedly SF Neo started out as Shining Force IV but somewhere along the line somebody got high and decided to make it an action RPG spinoff. Boo.

They always manage to screw something up, don't they?

That may be a blessing, though - Camelot, who made the original Shining games, cut off ties with Sega after Shining Force III. As far as I'm concerned, that was the end of the series, may it rest in peace.

If everything after III was that horrible, then I agree completely.

Hmm, speaking of continuing series, I've noticed Konami is milking the Suikoden series now. Like, really starting to milk the series with the announcement of three games: Rhapsodia, Suikoden V, and Suikoden 1+2 for the PSP.

I'm not sure what to think of this yet, since the creator of the series left some time during the production of III, but Suikoden V seems to be the first Suikoden to have some high production values (whether the story will be great again after IV is still up for speculation).

http://www.konami.jp/gs/game/genso/V/movies/index.html

It also seems that Konami is following what Square's doing by introducing a feminine main boy character, but is is set in the Queendom of Falena (where, it seems, the females are the dominant gender), so I guess that's understandable. It seems a character is returning from Suikoden 2, too (not counting the mandatory characters such as Jeane and Viki).

And learn Japanese, I hope, since the chances of it making it out of Japan are negligible.

Hell, it's like pizza. Even 4 was better than whatever Final Fantasy came out that year.

Gibbon feels that 4 is a letdown after 2 and 3, but I still enjoyed it.
