All good (and bad) shows on Cartoon Network eventually come to an end, whether by pointless cancellation (Sheep in the Big City, Robot Jones, Megas XLR), or to put it out of its misery (Dexter's Laboratory, Cow and Chicken, Evil con Carne).

Except Ed, Edd, and Eddy. Fifth season this fall. Whatever.

I wouldn't call it "pointless" if a huge number people(especially in a certain demographic) were not watching the shows to please the advertisers and network excutives regardless of how many internet geeks proclaim it as one of the best shows in the world.

Which is why Ed, Edd, & Eddy is getting another season.

Though I think EE&E is okay.

I never got cable during Samurai Jack's time, so I've never watched it, but I hope to get off my ass and buy the DVDs sometime (same with Invader Zim).

Didn't the last 4 episodes of Samurai Jack conclude the story? Or did they decide to leave it open ended? I missed them unfortunatly.

I was going to watch them, I even invited my friends over because I thought they might enjoy it's brilliance(and to play some Smash Bros.^_^), but I've come to find they now don't care for any kind of animation unless it's a "Cool for Adults" comedy or comes from Japan. They wouldn't stop bitchin' about thier damn Halo making it very difficult to enjoy the show, so I turned it off and decided to just buy the DVDs. It's sad really.

I've been hearing stuff that even though it hasn't shown any new episodes in a while, the show isn't cancelled yet. But I don't know...

And this is why Samurai Jack failed--hardly anyone watched it. It was too slow moving for kids(and probably for some adults) and adults probably dissmissed it because it didn't have the Adult-Swim standard of comedy or action. The small fanbase(whose probably in the wrong demo for some advertisers) wasn't enough for CN to continue the show and treat it well as it should have been, but at least it won an Emmy and got the stardard 52 episode run like most CN shows.

But hey, that's the television industry for you.

Samurai Jack was supposed to be concluded as a DTV (which is why Gen didn't plan an ending for the show, despite the 52 ep cap), but... well, you can probably guess what happened with that.

Even in Canada fans basically had to beg and plead YTV just to air the third season, and they finally did... only at 12:00am. I think the only place Jack ever saw success was in the UK.

Mr. Tartakovsky has assured Jack fans that he (Jack) hasn't been forgotten and will return at some point in the future. I'm sure he's talking out of his arse, but it's something to cling to.

Myself, I just want to know what his real fucking name is. Actually tying up the story would be way too difficult to even theorise about as a fan, what with the time travel and all that rot.

I think I also heard that they may have changed his name back to Eggman for the American releases so that they could better sync up the English dialogue with the mouth movements. Though when I think about it, this doesn't make sense, due to the differences in structure of the Japanese language versus English, the fact that Eggman is in fact three syllables when spoken in Japanese (Robotnik is also three syllables in English), and the fact that the English dialogue ended up being horribly out of synch for the Sonic Adventure games anyway.

52 episodes is ok, the show just needs a end. But we already have seen Jack defeating Aku so many times that it would be really hard to do. Besides shows that last to long end being boring, see “Pokemonâ€￾…

Pokemon is over? When did that happen?
Or did Nova's awful grammar mislead me?

I think you meant to say "shows that last too long end up being boring". Without that little word there, the sentence is confusing.

No kidding. I really can't watch anything further then the Kanto and Orange Island Series in Pokemon. Johto was one of the most tedious crap ever. Although the Hoeon (or however you spell it) region isn't that bad, but nowadays, Pokemon has turned into one of the shows I watch when I'm super bored and there's nothing else on TV.

The quality of animation these days is also lacking. Some cartoons use flash!
