Re: Post your artwork (56k warning)
Looks like you really botched the reflective floor, and the two figures in the back are lacking something, but otherwise, this is probably your best picture yet. I'm totally digging the perspective and composition, and your painting in general is just a tremendous improvement over that last one, where the characters looked like they were made of plastic.

Re: Post your artwork (56k warning)
I just use OpenCanvas's basic brush tool, it's not anything fancy at all. I didn't realize I was so distinctive, how can you tell?I like how you can tell the texture was painted by G. Silver. What kind of brushes do you use?
I think the background is fine, there isn't really any clashing going on, although there does seem to be a bit of rough stuff along the Sentinel's outline. I do think your closer figures could use some outlines or some kind of sharp shading to accomplish the same effect, they just aren't popping out as much as they could. The Star Gladiator guy on the left is a good spot for that, his arm looks too light and washed out against the background. By comparison, the light-dark qualities of the scarf looks great, I'd use that for a guide as to how dark something "light" like skin should get.
Great layout and details though, it just needs that extra bit of oomph.

The thing with your art is that you don't really gradate your colors as much. When I see your stuff I can see where you brushed and where their strokes are. I just looked at the other 3d models on your site and noticed your Gunther also has that shading thing you do but all the other models were more gradated (basically, it's the only one there where I can confidently say it was textured by you with no prior knowledge of who made it)

I've never played The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, so does anyone know if it's in-character for her to dissect the likes of Iron Man's and War Machine's armor for her own personal gains?

Dunno about Misadventures, but given Legends, it's not terribly out-of-character for her, should she be able to nab the armors unoccupied.
Of course, it's been years since I played Legends, so.

Do you think she'd strap occupied armors onto an operating table?

More likely she'd just take them apart as she went a long and toss the leftovers everywhere and expect the Kobun to pick up after her.

Re: Post your artwork (56k warning)
I modelled a Tron Bonne, but I can't help but feel there's something unflattering about it (besides the lack of texturing in the hair).

Does her face look fine to you or does it look like something is wrong? I tried sketching over it and I think the sketch looks fine, but something about the 3d version looks unflattering. Am I the only one who feels this way or does anyone else notice something wrong with the face? I can't quite put my finger on it...
Also I know her bust looks really huge but it really isn't, it's just the lighting and shadows make it look that way.

Her face looks like a cat. I think the overall face is too flat and paired with the protruding nose it gives a very cat-like appearance.

Yeah, what Holic said. It's be easier to tell exactly what's wrong with a side view.

Re: Post your artwork (56k warning)
For an anime look the nose definitely protrudes too much. She looks like Captain Janeway. Probably it's more a problem with the facial structure around her nose, if it were to curve into the nose more gradually it would probably be better, or at least get rid of some of those shadows.

So hey, I have started a webcomic! Check it out if you like (the webpage is still under construction)

Yeah, I suppose it's the nose that's the problem. I tried hardening some normals so shadows wouldn't affect the area around her nose so much, but does she still look like a grandma to you? I guess I'll try tweaking some vertices and see what happens...

Re: Post your artwork (56k warning)
Now it's still partly due to the way the shadows fall, but on these up-close ones there's also a lot of extra cheek definition that you just don't see on anime characters, all those curves are what's doing it. It may also have to do with the low positioning of her face on her head, especially with the large bulge of hair in the front kind of suggesting that there might be forehead under it, even though the forehead receded lower down.

Re: Post your artwork (56k warning)
This has nothing to do with your art, but that strip actually reminds me of a scene from my childhood. I was in preschool pretending to be a leaf-eating dinosaur and started eating grass at the playground. A teacher saw me and flipped out, forcing me to spit everything out before I could go back inside. That's probably one of the earliest memories I have of my life, and this strip has triggered it.G.Silver wrote:For an anime look the nose definitely protrudes too much. And your webcomic looks interesting, btw. I'm interested in how many directions it will go in sans- dialogue.

I'm planning on dropping the no dialog thing before long, although there will still be a lot of strips that don't have it. And even then there are substitutions I use for thought processes, and the sound effects are probably cheating too, really.

Re: Post your artwork (56k warning)
Right, I'm no modeling expert, but her face looks WAY too flat. Here's a hasty doodle to show what I think it should look like:

Now, by my own admission, drawing human heads is one of my major weak points when it comes to doodling (although I do practice on occasion), but already this is looking a little more like it should - protruding forehead, pull a little back for the eyes, head out for the nose, pull back slightly to the lips, pull back harder to the chin, and tada, you've reached the neck. As it is, it's basically flat the whole way down; and the mouth isn't pulling far enough back, either.

Also a sketchy Tails head to show that, while not fantastic, I'm not utterly terrible, either.
I should probably show my art here more often, if only for the criticism.

Re: Post your artwork (56k warning)

The problem with trying translate something like this accurately is the way shadows fall on the chin area. When you light it it looks like they have no chin thus they look kind of like gorillas. Anyway here's what she looks like now:

I'd say it's a bit better from my first attempt, but I kind of stopped caring so I'm not sure if I'm going to adjust her face anymore.

I do really wish for some official Capcom art of a front and side view or be able to rip her model from her game.

I created an Iron Man, but I don't know much about writing shaders to achieve things like metal, AND YOU ALL SUCK FOR NOT KNOWING HOW TO EITHER

Yeah that shader needs some help. It looks like he has camel toe.

Sonic needs a "wack-a-crab" game... or a mini game wherte Amy has to wack 50 crabs in less than 60 seconds... that would be nice.
