Oh, cheers, G. Silver. I was just thinking about doing a Labyrinth picture, but now you've saved me the trouble.

However, I have drawn this. New Years Yadrins!

Glad to see I got the ball rolling again :) (And comments! Nobody on my livejournal gave me nuthin!)

In particular, Neo's comic (I do what I like!), Rocket Knight fanart, and the improbable yadorin-walking Sonic make me happy. Nice works all around though.

Are those felt pens you used, Neil? And what do you use for your inking? Stupid fresh work.

What I'm currently working on. A picture full of bunches of PS1/PS2 characters. It's officially killing me.

Nope. Never use felt tips... well, not traditional messy Crayola ones anyway. I mainly use alcohol based "Tria" markers for my traditional colouring, but that's not what I did this with.

I'm amazed at the amount of people who did think it was a markers piece... it's actually digital water colour with the aid of Coral Painter 8.

It's good stuff, I really did have a hard time telling it apart from normal felt pens. I'll try to find some of those Tria markers you mentioned.

I coloured some old Christmas pic today with normal felt tips and it was kinda lame...I tried my best though, including some strange experimentation with Tipp-Ex. I'm debating whether to post it or not as it is in fact a month after Christmas now.

And all this time, I thought that drawing of Sonic above was an Oekaki drawing.

Your lineart has a sort of flexible look to it, did you use a tablet? I have Painter 8 but for some reason the tablet sensitivity is way off, the range of effect it has on the line is really slight, especially when I compare with Painter Classic, which I got for free with the tablet. I figured Painter 8 would be the same as classic just with decent editing tools and layer support, but the feel of drawing in it is completely different, I don't like it much.

Well I finally figured out how to get access to a scanner (walk down the hall to this dorm's computer lab) so I scanned a couple pics.

Image

Art for the Future Force Warrior concept. I like the overall design, but I am disapointed that I decided to draw him holding the assault weapon in his right hand. Now, I much prefer I would have drawn an airbursting launcher, both for contrast with the PDW in his left hand and because that is the way that future firearms design appears to be going.

And I must have worked on that left arm for twice as long as the rest of the drawing and it still didn't come out right. Oh well, too lazy to change it, and the PDW looks good, so no sense in ruining that to fix the impossible.

Image

This is another FFW concept, though this is for heavier armor (resistant to multiple hits from .30-.34 caliber rounds) that has a more powerful integrated exoskeleton for carrying heavier weapons and more ammo.

Now that you have access to a scanner, it's time to reveal the face behind the barrel.

Those look incredibly like Halo. When did you saw you drew those?

The first one I drew last week and is loosely based on this concept:

Image

The second image I drew during the summer is based on the Clan Elemental and an unknown piece of art that I saw several years ago and have not been able to find again.

As for resembling Master Chief, it sort of goes with the territory. If you wanted you could also draw comparisons to Stormtroopers, the battle armor in Starship Troopers, or the Hardsuits in Bubblegum Crisis. The concept of powered armor isn't exactly new or original, and it certainly isn't unique to Halo.

The first one really does look like Master Chief gettin' jiggy with it at first glance. I quite like the second one (though his feet look a bit cumbersome)

Well, I guess the feet allow for maximum mobility on any terrain. Except stairs, like in RoboCop.

Yeah, meh. But I was also going on how that SMG in his left hand looked somewhat like the Halo 2 SMG (that and crossed with a Mac-11).

Most of the weapons in Halo are at least loosely based on real life weapons, as our mine.

The SMG was based on the Marshal Arms PDW concept and the Russian PP-2000 PDW.

The assault rifle was influenced by the LR300:

In order to completely understand the reason for having all of these various modes and such, it is vital to understand the Cmaj Scale:
Image
These are, in order, C D E F G A B C. This can repeat over several octaves.
The main thing to remember is that all modes are basically the root scale, starting at a different point. Our modes in the key of Cmaj:
C Ionian
D Dorian
E Phrygian
F Lydian
G Mixolydian
A Aeolian
B Locrian
Dorian, Phrygian, and Aeolian are minor.
Mixolydian, Lydian, and Ionian are major.
Locrian is considered neither major or minor, due to the diminished 3rd, and rarely appears out of fusion, jazz, and prog.
Now, another vital point to understand is that every major mode has a relative minor mode, and every major key has a relative minor key.
In this case, C Ionian is relative to A Aeolian.

A couple of drawings I did in government class and just now, respectively. I can't draw humans or humanish things worth squat, so I just do scenery stuff. I have a few more somewhere at home that I did in other classes or when I was just bored.
