Ya know, "food, folks, and fun" was the only tolerable campaign.

You don't have to ask for the Happy Meal, you can still just buy the toys.

I hated Food Folks and Fun. I kept on thinking they were saying "Nudes, Bolts, and Puns". "Put a Smile on" wasn't too bad.

They're all terrible. It's just that this one is particularly painful.

That slogan made me think of Kitkat Bars. Not McDondald's.

I don't see why McDonald's feels the need to change their slogan every three years. It's a classic "American" product, and many of those products actually just STICK with a slogan for decades. And it works, because they use it so long that people recognize it with fondness.

"Always Coca-Cola", anyone?

I've been aware of some of those other slogans, but on all their cans/bottles they put, "<i>Enjoy Coca-Cola</i>" which seems to be the standard.

Why do soda companies even advertise? Aside from when they have promotional contests there really is know reason to have Britney Spears dance with a pepsi bottle.

Three words:
Perverted straight guys. Nothing against Zeta, but I don't see many men doing the bump and grind in front of a Pepsi logo.

Personally, if some guy started doing the sexy dance on my TV screen, I would have no idea what he was advertising because I'd be too busy watching the sexy dance.

Yeah, pretty much. There's this giant cardboard cut-out a shirtless male hunk at the local department store. I think he's actually supposed to be selling perfume. All I know is that whenever I push my shopping cart by it, my eyes bug out and it takes me a few seconds to recover.

It hasn't made me want to buy any perfume. But if I could find a way to take home that cardboard man . . .

Constant advertising is necessary for Coke to maintain the iconic status it has burned for itself into the back of your brain. There is some kind of strange psychological association with that drink that drives it's entire market.

They certainly don't sell that stuff based on taste. Pepsi really does consistently win in those blind taste-tests. That was why Coke engineered "New Coke"... to win the taste tests. But as we all know, it totally bombed, even though it was carefully designed and ALWAYS beat out both Pepsi and regular Coke in pre-release taste tests. Pretty strange, hmm?

Coke tastes like ass. Pepsi tastes like flavoured ass. Gimme my Mountain Dew over the rest of that crap any day. It's flavoured, carbonated sugar water, but it's MY flavoured, carbonated sugar water, damnit!

I'm a Dr. Pepper person, myself. I went to an all-Pepsi product campus. At first, i just thought it was just the best pop available, but now I absolutely love the stuff. I guess the system works!

I DON'T CARE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU'LL DRINK IT ANYWAY AND GET USED TO IT!!!

Oh, and Dr. Pepper is a Coke product, not Pepsi.

Actually, Dr. Pepper isn't a Coke or Pepsi product. It is a seperate company called Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc.

More useless knowledge learned from working in a grocery store.

I'm at an all Coke Campus, it sucks cause the only soda I can drink without getting a stomach ache is Mountain Dew. Coke is nasty, Pepsi is a bit better, Sprite and its counterparts all burn your throat with carbonation. Dr. Pepper is alright if it is not out of a can, still gives me a stomach ache though. Mountain Dew is where it's at. Probably good I don't get it very often though, soda is so bad for you.

That's true, but some British company bought 7up/Dr. Pepper. I think it was Cadbury.

How Coke ended up with it, I'm not sure.

The Dr. Pepper website still says it's a seperate company. I know around here Pepsi, Coke and Dr. Pepper products are all distributed by different companies.

Edit: Just checked the site again, and it was bought by Cadbury's. No mention of Coke though. In the scheme of things it doesn't matter anyway.

It may be it's own entity, <a href="http://www2.coca-cola.com/brands/brandlist.html#D">but Coke does have the licence to it</a>.
