Re: More Mario & Sonic at the Olympics?
Perhaps we should just be glad that Sega didn't use this game as an excuse to introduce an Eggman Jr. But yeah, Silver's continued appearances in the series is just baffling.

I'm actually pleased with that resolution. He's the Waluigi of the Sonic franchise. It's better to have him in almost every game as an extra character rather than actively participating in the plot.Shadow Hog wrote:Remind me who exactly liked Silver so much that he has to be shoehorned into as many new Sonic games as possible.
It's actually making him sorta grow on me, too!

There was a slot left on both sides for "character that annoys people", though I must admit Silver's got nothing on Jr. there.Or Bowser Jr. for that matter!

I don't understand the Bowser Jr. hate. I guess it's because I never got into the Koopa Kids.
Silver on the other hand, I can understand hating entirely.

I think it's because he's in many ways reminiscent of Scrappy Doo.

As much as I like the Koopalings, it's probably easier for them to have just one minature Bowser to be his partner in these spinoff games.

I can't think of a more useless character in the Sonic franchise than Silver. You'd think after the trainwreck that was 2k6, they'd completely abandon all characters created for said game.
Why not bring back a more interesting character? Like Fang maybe?

I know, it's out of character for a studio of such integrity.

Odds are a game like this is developed by Tose. There's a reason they go uncredited if possible.

So that their resume of Game & Watch Gallerys, The Legendary Starfys and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (oddly enough) goes unscathed?Dr. BUGMAN wrote:Odds are a game like this is developed by Tose. There's a reason they go uncredited if possible.

Starfy was the only game they've ever taken credit for. It's their only original property.

The nature of Tose is that of a stepping stone for those who want to work in the video game industry in Japan. Those who do well get employed by the bigger, better companies. This is their business model.
Of course it's a cream-rising-to-the-top scenario; when they send off their best, they aren't left with much. If they credit the shitty stuff their armatures put out, they, yes, besmirch their name.
But it's cycle; new, talented up-and-comers will come along.

SEGA of Japan is a single development team?Radrappy wrote:Sega of Japan isn't developing it?Kogen wrote:Too bad this game is by another studio?Radrappy wrote:cjmcray wrote:I can't think of a more useless character in the Sonic franchise than Silver. Last time I checked, they had about 6 AM developers or so.

Re: More Mario & Sonic at the Olympics?
Oh good, so then you'll agree on the whole that "Sega of Japan" is the same body responsible for Sonic 06. Thanks for being difficult Kogen.Kogen wrote:SEGA of Japan is a single development team?Radrappy wrote:Sega of Japan isn't developing it?Kogen wrote:Too bad this game is by another studio?Radrappy wrote:cjmcray wrote:I can't think of a more useless character in the Sonic franchise than Silver. Gameplay video of Ice Hockey.
It doesn't look great but it doesn't look quite as generic and boring as the first game did.

Metal Sonic looks both terribly bored and awkward there, just playing hockey for no apparent reason.
At least he isn't in some horribly under-pixellated car this time.
