I guess reading the game's script will be one of the requirements to actually understand the plot. I bet Gamefaqs has it.

Backtracking on the topic of Tifa's redesign in Advent Children for a bit, ever since I saw the first images of her there was something about how she looked that seemed off putting. Like GG! said, I felt she just doesn't look much like Tifa anymore but I couldn't really put my finger on why exactly I felt that way.

Then I found this posted on another forum regarding the AC Tifa:
She looks like your typical coffee house waif who whines all day about philosophical nonsense, such as the futility of life and how there is nothing but pain, blah blah blah...
I realized this was exactly why I didn't feel like AC Tifa looked like Tifa at all. It has nothing to do with her breasts- the original design of Tifa gave her a sort of daring, confident aura that was unique amongst the other characters, as if she wants someone to challenge her. AC Tifa, however, looks more like she wants someone to listen to her read sad poetry.

FF7 just isn't FF7 without those blocky designs.

Lies. Well, sort of.

I suppose so. Then again, they didn't really flesh out her character in the original, but making her give off a dark and moody aura probably wasn't the best idea ever. Plus, I miss the short leather skirt, but I can get used to that, I suppose.

Guess I'm the only person who is looking forward to Advent Children on this board
I am, too, but as another forumer said, it's out of sheer curiousity. I mean, FF7 was my first FF, my first RPG, so it has some impact on me. I spent hours geeking out about it before I realize it's an okay game that's overrated. So, it's curiousity to see what'll happen.

Everytime I see AC Tifa, Princess Garnet of FFIX enters my mind.

Well, the fact that in-game Garnet, along with Rinoa and FFX Yuna are all Tifa clones probably doesn't help with that.

Yes well... My bad
Kishi wrote:I'm interested in Advent Children as a curiosity. And yes, how dare those fans depict a villain with a pretty face, long silver hair, a bare chest, and a huge sword as some kind of fairy fag homo?!

Truly an outrage.
I'll choose to ignore your sarcasm and just agree with you

But you probably don't know what it's like to frequent boards where people are outraged at Squares inaccurate portrayal of Sephiroth in AC... Dunno about you but I'd be pretty hacked off if some random 'artist' (who can't think of original material) tells me that I have the wrong idea about my own creation

The pictures of him looking like a ballerina don't help...

Don't worry about it. Just gaze upon them with an aura of smug contempt. They draw pictures of fairy-doll sephiroth for christ's sake!

Personally, I think both AC Tifa and Garnet are lovely, but they and Rinoa are basically clones of each other in appearance. it's kinda scary.

I'd agree, there wasn't exactly a main character in 6 which I enjoyed, the FF that followed had a mysterious angst whore in their early 20's/ late teens as the central character.
Even the other characters were of the same mould-

Babyish happy chappy- Zell, Wakka
Innocent bitch- Yuna, Rinoa
Mysterious bloke- Vinnie, Auron
Among others...

Probably more along the lines of "Nomura couldn't come up with an original character design to save his ass."

Okay, I exagerate. A little.

You forgot annoying little bitch... Who is always small, always dresses like a slut and always pisses me right off

Yuffie, Selphie and Rikku

IX had a different character designer so it kind of broke the mould a little

I wonder if Nomura actually "designs" the characters or simply draws them to specification based on market research conducted by analysts on popularity trends.

It wouldn't suprise me, Square just churn out the FF series now. There used to be an element of wishing that a game would come out like between FF6 and 7. Now it's a guarunteed certainty and as such has lost it's shine.

Doesn't stop me from liking his art style. I'm aboslutely in love with the clothing designs he makes for the characters...except FFX and FFX-2 where 98% of the entire people of Spira wears craptaculuar, flamboyant clothings. Hell, even FFX's dinky airship is flamboyant with his wide range of pink and lavender.

Well, he's pulled me in. Lots of my art style is cuz' of that man.

Fixed. I meant to quote Timestones for the first one.
