So the film is doing well at the box office, too! Which of course leads us to one question.... will (or should) they try to make a Restaurant movie without having Adams around to help author the script?

Most of the script is in the books. They really only need a good screenplay writer to make a competent film out of it. My worry is that when they get to the end of the written material they'll be overcome with greed and start writing the stories by themselves just so they can make more movies.

I doubt they would. They'd get own'd by the Adams family (lol).

Besides which, they all seemed to actually care about making this film as good as they could have as some sort of tribute to Adams, meaning that they respect him too much to do such a thing.

I reckon Adams was due some respect, even if it's not an aspect adhered to by others in the film industry.

So, I went and saw Hitchhiker's tonight having never read the books, so take this however you like.

I thought the movie was basically enjoyable. Charming but forgettable. It had a few genuinely funny moments, but it was more amusing than laugh-out-loud funny overall, in my opinion. I left the theater feeling that I probably would've enjoyed it much more had I read the books, which seems obvious, but there are plenty of books-to-movies that I've enjoyed without reading the book more than Hitchhiker's. Still, I don't regret seeing it.

That describes my experience fairly accurately. I concur.
