It's called a PIT maneuver. And it seems like that would be an indication of good AI, if the other racers use it to their advantage.
Yeah, cause a guy driving a multi-million dollar Ferrari would really ram into your car at 90 miles per hour.
And half the time the AI driver ends up crashing after the collision as well.

Good point. I wouldn't know because I stopped playing racing games a long time ago: They're a bit too rough on the thumbs if you don't have a wheel.
