Right, because Bowser always had a habit of dressing up like a pirate and using a musket that fire cannonballs and barrels.

Much like how Ganondorf is just a malformed Captain Falcon right?

Really, it depends entirely on how lazy the developers want to be.

Okay, so K. Rool likes to play dress-up. Is this really a positive trait?

It did make for some wild and varied boss battles. Plus the new abilities, etc. that go with it like the aforementioned blunderbuss.

No, I mean from a cosmic stand point. Two overweight, regal reptiles in the same game is, I dunno, redundant.

That aside, I think K. Rool is an unclever throwaway character design. The fact that he was created out-of-house by Rare might also be a factor.

But I think there is room for a "fat guy" niche (Bowser isn't fat, just huge), for an E. Honda type character, though who would take K. Rool in that role when they could have Kraid or King Hippo?

Consider how many swordsman are in Brawl. Two of them are literally the same person. That kind of redundancy is moot at this point.

Twilight Princess Link and Wind Waker Link are not the same person.

...but you're right, there's quite a bit of redundancy in Brawl already.

Hopefully if they make another Punch-Out for Wii it will actually be a new game.

I know redundancy is already prevalent in Smash Bros.--doesn't mean I accept it. Peach and Zelda are the most egregious examples.

Though there are plenty of fat jokes surrounding Bowser in his RPG outings--at least once in every game, IIC--so I'm taking them at face value.

EDIT: COSMETIC stand-point. Put me in the No Edit Limit party

If they added him in under his Kaptain K.Rool guise it wouldn't be as redundant.

Ok, fine, they're different incarnations branching from the same person, existing concurrently on alternate timelines that probably get chaos controlled back together when the Dark World reinverts with the Twilight Realm on the other side of the Termania nexus during the third celestial war between the Fierce Deity and Hyrule's goddesses, simultaneously transporting the magic mirror to the sacred realm and thus freeing Ganon once more.

Er, no... I mean, technically speaking, the whole point of Wind Waker Link is actually that he ISN'T the reincarnation of the old Link. Have you played the game?

Gannon must be reading a different Zelda fan wiki!

Reincarnation is one thing. Link and Young Link in Melee LITERALLY were the same person. TP Link and Toon Link in Brawl are two different Links from two different Zelda games, as every Zelda game tends to have save for a few exceptions.

I thought K. Rool was a blatant ripoff of the Super Show Bowser, right down to ripping off his "new persona in every episode" shtick. In retrospect I suspect Rare really wanted to a Mario game & had to settle for what they could get.

I say DK needs to find a new archnemesis.

What. They don't look a thing alike except in the generic sense - big green lizard, wears a crown, nemesis to the good guy, and uh... yeah. I can't believe how much DK is scrutinised compared to other franchises, where even the really basic fundamentals are examined with a fucking magnifying glass.

How about an asshole big game hunter from the British empire?

They already had the Kremlings prepared for a game they were planning to make, but when Miyamoto gave them the OK to make a Donkey Kong game with a fleshed out setting and characters they opted to just use them as the bad guys.

Really, primates vs. crocodiles seems like a perfectly OK setup to me. Makes more sense than mushrooms vs. turtles at any rate.

http://punchout.nintendo.com/

Official website updated with every fighter for both the normal and the Title Defense mode, controls, modes, videos, and etc. But it seems more stuff is still coming.

Also three hidden wallpaper. Here's a freebie. Personally I prefer the Aran Ryan one.
