I know the game says 9, but does it take place before or after Megaman 8/Rockman&Forte?
After, you can see it in the ending when Mega Man basically flashes back to 9 other games.

Just out of curiosity, how do you guys feel about the downloadable content coming up for this thing?
Endless Attack: (300 Wii Points) Test your skills on a stage without end. Try to break the record for getting the farthest. Releases October 6.

Hero Mode: (100 Wii Points) Play the game with a more difficult level of enemy distribution. Releases October 20.

Superhero Mode: (100 Wii Points) Play the game with a super difficult level of enemy distribution. Releases October 20.

Proto Man Mode: (200 Wii Points) Play the game as Proto Man. You can use the shield while jumping. There is no story for Proto Man. Releases October 6.

Special Stage: (100 Wii Points) Gives you another Time Attack stage to try, including a new Boss at the end. Results will be displayed in the rankings. Releases October 20.
A lot of fans seem to be miffed that this stuff wasn't just included from the beginning. But on the other hand, neither the downloads nor the game itself are particularly expensive. Thoughts?

I'll probably buy the Endless stage, Special stage and Proto Man mode, but the difficult modes can go stuff it.

I think it's pretty lame. Maybe the last one is okay, but… My problem with it is it stuff that sounds like it should be included from the get-go or unlockable, and in stead they're trying to wring more money from you.

The game is fun, and a complete experience without any of the DLC. God knows it's hard enough as is. Plus it's all pretty cheap. I won't buy it all, but I bear no grudge over this setup.

Protoman, Special and Endless seem like the best 3 extras.

I want to wait to see how long they plan to keep doing DLC for this before I condemn it altogether, but to me it smells of a ripoff. Consider that Mega Man Powered Up had a year's worth of DLC like this, all of it FREE. Though that was $40 retail I believe, and so my (semi-plausible) theory is they have some serious bills to pay for all that wild advertising.

Regardless, death to microtransactions and unfashionably late features in general, ect.

I always think back to the current price of playing an arcade game, typically 100yen in Japan and often over $1 for current ones. Paying another $3 to make the game more social via competition and prolonged relevance is a great deal if you ask me. For any game I played extensively back in the day (Megamans, Marios, Sonics, and so on) I would have been champing at the bit for extra content once I'd blown through the main stuff, and $3 a pop or whatever is pocket change. Admittedly it all adds up, but it's still not that much and being able to pick and choose is a nice thing.

Of course, some games release extra content for free (hi there TF2) so I can see where people are getting this sense of entitlement from. But I always look at it as supporting something I like. Even if Capcom is generating cash all over the place, if their smaller titles like Bionic Commando Re-Armed and Megaman 9 are successful then it means we're bound to see more projects along these lines. You don't get many opportunities to vote twice!

Finally beat the game. Damn that last boss sucks up HP.

Ending was cute. Kind of looking forward to replaying this sometime soon. Worth $10, easily.

IGN has gotten a hold of a few screenshots and video footage of Blues gameplay from Rockman 9.
The screens confirm the various known details about Blues' gameplay style such as his ability to charge shots, deflect enemy projectiles and even use his shield as a jet. View the gallery in its entirety here.

Be sure to check out the video footage too!

So, it turns out that "Endless mode" is a whole lot more than I think anyone was expecting. It's built out of entirely out of brand new level layouts... and a lot of them!
