I plan on getting it eventually. College tuition and Brawl take a slightly higher priority, though--I'll prolly ask for it for my birthday or something.

I got it recently.... needless to say it proves that Suda51 is still capable of crazy messed up shit and a fun experience at the same time. And the bosses just get more and more messed up. Boss #7 & #9 were real fun fights in my opinion. Though they are weird as hell.
For instance after you defeat assassin #6 Holly Summers, she will do suicide by placing a grenade into her mouth, or not to mention that #7 Destroy Man fires lasers from his crotch.... or has titty guns pop out after his defeat...

On overall, this game looks just like my kind of thing.
Only lame details seem to be the massive amounts of "grinding" in order to get money to unlock and buy shit, and that it controls with a wiimote... yeah, I have something against the thing, and it's not going to change.

The sad thing is that Suda51 probably thinks this is all biting social commentary expressed through deep symbolism.

Re: Win a lightsaber and become an assasin in your free time!
So, this finally came out up here, and I am really enjoying it.
The game really does feel a lot like GTA, and not just because of the free-roaming city overworld and mission structure. It has that same sort of clunky, imperfect quality that GTA 3 has. It's got pretty bad graphics in places. It's got some gameplay elements that are only serviceable when they should be much better, like the driving. And it's got some missions that are annoying, or too repetitive. It feels unpolished, in pretty much exactly the same ways that the Grand Theft Auto games feel unpolished.
But like GTA, it's easier to forgive the clunkiness and grinding in places because much of the game is just really, really fun. And unlike GTA, No More Heroes is also backed by a really unique art style and story, and a fantastic core combat mechanic. I can't emphasize how good the fighting in this game feels, particularly the motion controlled wrestling moves and the use of tilt to select a high or low sword stance. It's not complex, but it is well designed and it works great.
It's hardly the sort of game you can recommend without equivocation, but there's a lot to like about it. I'm not having trouble getting through the occasional clunky segment or bizarre design decision because the story, characters, and main combat missions are too big a draw.

Yeah, I'm digging it myself. My only gripe is it feels like when it wants me to swing the Wiimote in a certain direction, any direction will do. I'd like to know it's possible to fuck up.
And don't give me any bullshit about the different difficulty settings. If they're not there at the game's start, they don't count.
But that's just one con in a sea of pro's. The gameplay is simple enough, but has some good options. I especially like the dodge system, which is where a lesser game would say "You can either fight them off or get killed!" Bull. I want to retreat before I get ass-porked with a machete. Then I'll regroup and make a massive comeback with one notch of health. In fact, I did that yesterday. It also has some creative boss areas. I don't feel like the boss is the same person, just tougher each time. I can count on getting whacked a few times before getting the feel of each one. But I actually enjoy that.
Only question - When you get near each boss, Travis' cell phone rings, he answers it, and for a good minute, you can only walk slowly. What's up with that?
Ta-da.

The game is not a sequel to Suda 51's earlier game, killer7, but an all-new game running on a new engine. Though the two games have stylistic similarities, Suda 51 has said that while killer7 focused on political issues, No More Heroes focuses on social ones."Zeta wrote:The sad thing is that Suda51 probably thinks this is all biting social commentary expressed through deep symbolism.

You should be able to hear someone talking to your through your Wiimote, as it is pretending to be a cellphone. (Do you have that little speaker turned off? CAN that speaker be turned off?)

Yes it can be turned off. I shut it off because the extra noises during Zelda were both annoying me and sucking up battery life like me at a cock party.
OH HOH I WENT THERE.

Why are batteries required if you have real cocks?
Yeah, hit the 'home' button, and hit "Controller Settings" or something to that effect. I didn't turn it off, but I turned it down some back when I got the system.Delphine wrote:You should be able to hear someone talking to your through your Wiimote, as it is pretending to be a cellphone. I'm sorry you've been missing out on those phone conversations... they're pretty funny!
