I am now extra extra happy that I pre ordered the game a few days ago; and live and learn as his theme? this game has transcended time and space and become the all being.

And other than green hill, I wonder if there will be some kind of ARK level where the eclipse cannon goes of periodically in the middle of the fight, instantly killing anyone caught in the beam.

but who gives a f*** about my rambling, IT'S SONIC!

I'm sure it was a lot more exciting when you could actually see the trailer.

Oh, man, that trailer was really something. I can't believe they actually did it. This is so great.

I'm really excited about his moves -- they all look very fluid and speedy, as you'd hope them to be. They actually look a lot like his moves from Sonic Battle, which makes sense.

It's cool, I suppose. Though I did think the model looked a bit ugly for Sonic, but whatever. I just hope they don't 'queer it' and make him all SA2ish since Nintendo wouldn't know anything beyond SA2 like all their kiddy fans. And there better be a GHZ or similar zone.

I thought the model looked good. If anything, though, I'm more afraid of Sega intervening and 'queering it' with the post-SA2 stuff ("no, you can't use the GHZ theme music, that's ancient. No, it has to be IN HIS WORLD!"). I can deal with Live and Learn, since it's from the last major Sonic game that didn't completely suck, but I do hope that's as far as they go with the guitar wailing and cock rock. And like I said, at least it's not IN HIS WOOOOORLD.

But more importantly, my theory proved correct! After reading that it was Sega's idea to do that Olympic Bullshit game, and they came to Nintendo requesting Mario's inclusion, Nintendo must've used that as leverage to make Sonic appear in Brawl.

Well, I don't know if that's how it happened. But at least he's in there, and unlike AUX JEUX OLYMPIQUES, Sonic looks like he's significantly faster than the rest of the cast. So far, it looks like Nintendo has a better grip on Sonic than Sonic Team themselves. And really, this can't be any worse than if Sega had made the game.

Brilliant. Brilliant. Just, brilliant. It's got the "hanging on the edge" worried expression, it's got the spin dash, its got the cocky finger wave, it's got ATTITUUUUDE.

So brilliant.

I just have to post this:

Coincidence? Or does Sakurai care so much that he's actually using things that SEGA themselves have long-since forgotten about?

Now my only curoisities about the game are as follows:
> What exactly is Sonic's moveset? We know Spin Dashing ans Springs are involved in some of them, but how?
> How does the "Super Sonic" Final Smash handle? Is he controllable like "Super Dragon" Yoshi or "Volt Tackle", or does he autotarget all the opponents?
> Will any other Sonic characters show up as Assist Trophies (or any other items, for that matter--could Rings be given the Sonic X treatment?)
> Which franchise will get the (final and possibly nonexistant) third spot for "3rd-Party Character"? I personally hope for MegaMan.

Guys, you all got really excited over relative nimieties.
Whatever, I personally hope Sonic's FS is controlled in good pinball fashion, and that the last 3rd party character, if not Joe, could be (sadly underpowered) Dante.

The final third party character should be Bomberman. He and Wario are old college buddies.

Anyone notice they used the old sounds from the genesis games?

They made Sonic look like such a badass, using Live and Learn was awesome too. This is really a huge surprise, I wasn't expecting Sonic at all. Tails and Knuckles would be great, but I wouldn't be too disappointed if they were turned into assist trophies I guess. I'm also hoping the spindash controls like it does in the 2d games.

I keep thinking that the spring will be his Up+B.

And this update just placed getting a Wii and pre-ordering Smash from "in the near future" to "as soon as f'ing possible". Hot damn.

Yeah! even the old jump sound thats mainly used on 2D Sonic games now. The spring sound is lovely. "Live and Learn" why do I smell Shadow nearby? I bet alot of people (kids mainly) voted for him to appear...so its possible. While the really important characters like Tails and Knuckles get to assist. Well Since Shadow is a Sonic clone he would be easy to make...And Shadow is to Sonic what Wario is to Mario (status wise). So bear in mind its a posibility.

But Sonic and Sonic only is all we needed! Thank GOD!

The sound effects were a little off-key for me (or at least they were in the SSBB site's video), but clearly recognizable nevertheless.

The only other Sonic-related character I feel compelled to see here is Eggman. I ask nothing more.

And it looks like with this, Galaxy and Prime 3 (and maybe even Journey of Dreams), I'll have to get a Wii really soon too.

Apparently a bunch of Nintendo fan-boys(and possibly girls) are freaking the hell out over Sonic being in Brawl now, saying that his introduction was 'disrespectful' and etc.

Personally, I think it's hilarious.

I was already looking forward to this game, so my opinion on it doesn't really change with the inclusion of Sonic. Except, maybe, an additional "Oh, cool :)"

I was really ecstatic about all of this, up until Live and Learn started playing. Honestly, I'd have preferred His World over that tripe. But apparently, I'm alone in that respect, so hey whatever

Regardless, between Sonic and Snake, Nintendo's just sold a Wii. Potentially. Possibly. A year from now, anyway.

Good grief, I'm grinning from ear to ear after seeing that trailer. I can't believe Sonic's actually in the game and he looks great! I'm also laughing about the fact that Nintendo have done a better job representing Sonic than Sega have been able to do for years. It's all about the nods to the old school and attention to detail. I even noticed a certain air of (dare I say it?) attitude…

This is amazing. Even the spring jump animation looks similar to the classic games. I can't even remember the last time I saw Sonic handled this well. Green Hill Zone will probably be a stage, but I hope they get at least one other like Stardust Speedway, Scrap Brain Zone or Casino Night Zone.

The return of Live & Learn is most welcome, although personally I would have gone with the SA2 version of "It Doesn't Matter" which I think is the best fit for Sonic's personality out of all the theme tracks.

I was kind of hoping to come here and find some people being as cynical about this as I have felt.

Sonic's model is ugly, the voice is bad, the so-called "attitude" is annoying and harkens back to how throughly Sonic has been butchered by Sega of America over the years ("Sonic's the name, speed's my game?" More like "GOTTA SLYDE, CLYDE." nnnnghghg I want to vomit.)

I admit that, although they both look kind of poorly animated and rendered, I appreciate the edge animation and finger wagging. First time through when I saw Sonic balancing on the ledge I was like "haha! nice."

Still, Add in LIVE AND LEARN and the fact that this is a Smash Brothers game which, once you take the fanboy blinders off, is just a bland rehash of a game that was released, like, five or six years ago . . . I fail to see what's so exciting. Just yet another fine example of Sega milking the Sonic franchise for all it's worth.

. . . Genesis does what Nintendon't :'(
