Basically you can view Phoneix Wright's legal system as a satire designed to critique some of the problems Japan's real courts have, including extremely short trials, career/glory motivated prosecutors, and a near 99 percent national conviction rate.

But the reality is not quite as the games make it. The idea is that 15 years in the future (when Phoenix Wright takes place, apparently) the system has moved even further in the extreme direction it's been moving towards since the 1940s. The 3-day trial rule, for example, is not real... in the game it is a "recent" law enacted to make trials even faster.

Ironically, Japan's criminal justice system is now in the process of being reformed. For one thing, they're moving back to a jury system. I wonder if that will effect future games at all?

Going back to Mario Galaxy for a moment, it seems they've decided to take a leaf out Sonic's book and add a fairly pointless looking new Princess character called Rosetta!

Why? They have Peach and Daisy. Did we really need another one? Still, at least the rest of the game is looking pretty awesome at the moment.

In fact, last I checked, Mario was saving Peach in this game, too... right? If so, then this means that there's a second princess for practically no (known) reason at all!

Although I would totally have a fangasm if Tatanga was the final boss.
