Xbox 360 Fanboy posted an update about Sonic 1 on Live Arcade, but Kotaku says the screenshots are fake.
At least one commenter on Kotaku says the game is real, however.
We'll have to wait for the story to unfold.

No, but I can understand why you would think it was, since it was first announced a long time ago. (I can't find a link right now.)
So, everyone knows the game's real, but the screenshots may or may not reflect how it will look when it's released on XBLA.
EDIT: Oops. I took way too long to post a reply...

Sega's response to Kotaku is pretty cryptic anyway. "They didn't come from us" could mean Sega didn't take the screenshots, but the game still exists in that form.MiraiTails wrote:Xbox 360 Fanboy posted an update about Sonic 1 on Live Arcade, but Kotaku says the screenshots are fake.

Rampant speculation, sure, and images like those wouldn't be hard to fake, but the real question is in why somebody would want to fake, out of nowhere, images of Sonic the Hedgehog on Xbox Live Arcade when it's been nearly one year to the day since we last heard about it?
Doesn't add up. I think it's real.

It seems 360 versions of Sonic and Ecco were recently sent to the ESRB for approval, which further supports this rumour.

I dont care with sonic, the original game is good enough, but I hope Ecco has a new grafic engine, they can use the scroll stages from the DC game or something... just like EA is dooing with Prince of Persia
