Wow, that sounds like it wouldn't work well at all considering how shitty infrared was when that came out.

It would be interesting to hear about rare or obscure peripherals, too. Excluding the Samba de Amigo maracas, which I assume the grand majority of us own.
I left the stuff in my grandmother's house in New Jersey, so pictures aren't possible.
You just left it lying in the attic? Duuude. I mean, duuuuude. Granted, the system is not worth very much even in good condition, but you could at least remove it from the rodent underworld. Y'know, polish it off as much as possible and give it a nice clean corner of your closet to rest in peace. What if it still works?

If we're including peripherals, then I've also got one of those infrared wireless Genesis controllers, which I didn't even know existed until this year.

I own a Panasonic Q and the Panasonic Q GB player. In retrospect it was a poor buy, originally I was so overwhelmed by its aesthetics I had to have it, but it was impractical to think I could import all my games from America, consequently I only have one.

I used to own a Multi Mega as well, and for some reason my day had and Acorn Electron, which was strange because he’s very old fashioned and has never EVER played a videogame in his life. Oh how I wish I hadn’t throw that Electron away.

The only remotely non-mainstream system I've ever owned was an Atari Lynx 2. Well at least, I think it was a Lynx, but I don't have a clue where the thing so I can check. Actually, I don't even recall how it came to be in my possession either and I'd completely forgot it existed before checking this thread.

Let’s see…the 90s Japanese Yu-Yu hakuyo game for the original gameboy. It was a adaptation of the Genesis one. It took a long time to beat all the modes because I don’t know Japanese and didn’t have internet when I got it (Back in 1995). And yes, I still don’t know if there is a trick to play as Toguro 100%.

I actually have one of those; I got it around 1996. I used it all the time when my Genesis actually still worked.

I bought it so I could play Bonk, years and years after its release, I always suspected I was missing out. It turns out I don't like Bonk very much after all.
Same story here, except I rather like Bonk. I only own about 4 games for it, them being Bonk's Adventure, Splatterhouse, R-Type, and that game which came with the console (you have a lightsword and can transform into a mech from what I remember).

I unfortunately fried the damn TG16 in a freak AC adapter mix-up, but I'm looking into picking another one up sometime soon.

Keith Courage in Alpha Zones, or something like that.

For me, the big shame about the TG-16 was that it didn't have built in RCA ports. Those were only available when you attached the Turbo Booster. That seemed like a significant step back, considering the NES had RCA ports built in.

Dealing with crappy RF is worth it, though, when I have a need to play Neutopia or Bloody Wolf.

The original Japanese version of that is Chou Majin Eiyuuden Wataru, apparently based on some old anime. It was a peculiar choice for a pack-in game, I think, largely because it sucks.

My great uncle has an old system called a Vectrex. It's basically a monitor and a console in one, and all it's games look like variations of Galaga (graphics-wise).

Oh, and there's a place near me that has a Neo Geo MVS if that counts.

Oh yeah. I have a Lynx, too. Had two games - Kung Food, and California Games 2. Gave Kung Food to my brother (he bought one for each of us, but he didn't have a game).

Not very obscure, but I have a Colecovision. Only 3 games for it: Frenzy (the included game), Donkey Kong, and Pitfall. Actually my parents bought it before I was even born, but never once within memory have I actually seen them play it.

I've got a boatload of stuff - being a video game collector. Though I'm slowly selling off stuff for monies

I still have a Boxed Colecovision and Steering Wheel which I got cheap, A Vectrex Console I got for nothing with "Football" [missing controller though], Boxed 32X, Sega SC-3000H [and SEGA SR-1000 tape deck thing], Master System 1, and a top-loading NES.

I did have a Mario Bros. G&W, a NES pack that had NES + Gun + 2 controllers + SMB/DH all boxed up nicely [though I did only get the box originally - I made up the set by gathering the bits seperately :P]

Yeah, in the old days most games were merely re-hashes, especially when it comes to games like Galaga.
The Vectrex was good, they fetch for around 100 Euro's these days apparently.

Vectrex uses vector graphics, though (the only console ever to do so), whereas Galaga uses raster graphics, so there shouldn't really be any visual similarity at all unless you have a fucked up console. Are you thinking of Asteroids, maybe?

The one where your in a crazy arrow spaceship and you have to avoid the moving asteroids? That's most probably the game Smiths is on about.

I don't think I've ever played a vector game I didn't like. My first experience on a computer was playing Tempest for an hour, and the local arcade has a Red Baron machine (although the paint job is peeling and I can faintly see the word 'Zone' underneath)

Yeah Asteroids, that's the one, which is incidentally one of the games that my great uncle has for it, I think there was a Pac-man port as well along with some other stuff.

Wow. I'll have to see if I can't get a hold of that Vectrex.
