Wasn't there supposed to be a new Altered Beast for the PS2 in the first place?

Magi-Nation, the best game for the GBC. With improved hardware, it'd be great to have a more intricate battle system based on the card game, plus it'd be nice to see all the regions that have been introduced since the GBC game came out. I don't know where the new game would go storywise, though; it'd be difficult to make a story as simple yet interesting as the first one without a lot of cliches.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I know Magi-Nation wasn't too well publicized...

It already exists. People just choose to believe it never happened for very good reasons.

I remember seeing it in Game. But every time a battle ensued between the the side that wanted it and didn't want it, the side who didn't want it won.

I would die for a new Aladdin game. But you're wrong as Mr Wrong from Wrongsville, the Mega Drive version was a ropey peice of shite compared to the fluid grace and head bouncing loveliness of the SNES masterpiece. Disney Interactive indeed.

Sadly, it was based on a TCG that went belly-up. Mostly due to bad advertising and a badly timed launch - at a time when both Pokemon and Magic were at their respective peaks. It was well-recieved for the first two or three months but lost steam after the first expansion. Sad, because it was basically the best aspects of Magic: The Gathering and the Pokemon TCG combined.

Anyways, the property is basically left permanetly in limbo.

There was a Japanese Gameboy Advance remake of Magi-Nation, though - staring a totally new protagonist more "suited" to the Japanese market - Dan, a happy go lucky loud-mouthed hyper-active Goku-styled Japanese boy with a spikey haircut. Instead of Tony, the sarcastic, jaded, reserved blonde the US version used.

I like Tony. He may be the coolest 12-year-old ever. And he's one of the few video game characters that I've seen who are genuinely funny. It's odd to have him replaced by a generic anime personality.

I liked the CCG, too. I own most of the Dream's End expansion, but they were VERY hard to come by. My local EB Games sold them for a while, but stopped a few years ago, and I didn't have anyone to play with anyway; a search on the website showed there was one registered dueler in New Hampshire.

...I just tried to go to the Magi-Nation website, but got a "cannot find server." I haven't checked the site in a while ... Does that mean they're dead?

Seems like it. Sad, Magi Nation was a really cool fantasy setting.

Of course, there were other troubles with the GBC game you might not have noticed. The programmers forgot to set the percentage rate for certain monster encounters later in the game. What this means is that the best monsters in the game can essentially never be encountered or used in battle. This caused an uproar that caused many of the more hardcore fans of the TCG game to totally skip it. Problably also contributing to the franchise's premature death. : (

Jazz jackrabbit, with the fun the first game had, a playable female character, and with a new final enemy. And don’t forget about cut scenes!. Jazz jackrabbit 2 was ok for multiplayer, but in solo player it was like a bad copy of Jazz jackrabbit 1. And they removed the slow mode!, Jazz jackrabbit 1 had a slow mode...in 1993!, eat that Matrix!.

The game was the first time I'd heard of the franchise, so I had no idea I was missing out on anything. But, come to think of it, it would have been nice if the game had pushed the collection of Dream Creatures for strategic purposes, rather than allowing you to rely on your Furok's mighty attacks until you found the special Hyren creatures. However, the other aspects of the game, especially the characters and visuals, definately made up for the battles, which really weren't that bad anyway.
Hmm...the more I think about it, the better a new game sounds...it really is tragic if they're dead.
