I don't think the original Streets of Rage had any risque stuff. It was all in 2 and 3, both of which were edited for US release (like Blaze's stupid silver recolor in 3).

Perhaps "most important" wasn't the correct choice of words, so let's go with "best", "most profitable" and "most demanded".

StF and Sonic R didn't sound so bad, mono or otherwise, but Sonic CD sounded really muffled to me. Maybe the sound quality was reduced to conserve space? Either way, the sound effects in all the games are awful, and there's still high weirdness, visual and otherwise, transpiring in Sonic CD.

Blaze only ever shows panties in the Master System version of Bare Knuckle (maybe the GG version too, it's hard to tell), but I don't believe that was changed for the US version. The only one of the BK/SoR games that I remember being significantly altered was the third one...
So they get a Model 2 game from 1996 absolutely spot-on but they completely fuck up a Mega CD game from 1993, the most important game on the compilation?
They seem to have been handled by different teams. I think the StF port was actually handled by AM2.

AM2 did handle the Sonic the Fighters port. I shudder to think how it would have turned out if they had let Sonic Team try and handle it.

I wonder if Sonic CD and Sonic R are just running on some kind of PC emulator?

You can see Blaze's panties in the Japanese and European Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis) during her jump kick, as in that screenshot. You can also see them in all versions during her get-up-after-being-knocked-over animation.

In SoR3, her US jump kick was used for all versions of the game. However, her get-up animation remained the same. Which leads me to wonder if her recolor for the US had anything to do with that.

I know this because I have played the games to death. And I wouldn't mind playing some more.

New rule: visual aid is to accompany all discussion of panties. This is mandatory, and effective immediately.

I'd be more interested to see how they got away with censoring those animations.

I have had Sonic Gems for three days, and I don't think any of the conversions were as bad as GG! said.

Sonic CD, sure, it wasn't a perfect port, but it played like the Mega-CD version but wih less slowdown (Ex; in the MCD verison, when Sonic gets hit and losses a bunch of rings, the game starts to slowdown). The only things I could spot wrong with the port was the very beginning, with the SEGA logo; the screen starts blue, then the instant Sonic turns around, his eyes are blue then quickly changes to black. Everything else was already mentioned (The muffled sound, missing Tidal Tempest water color, the loading screen, etc...).

I suppose everything else was alright. The way the museum content is unlocked was ass, but the content itself is pretty cool. I haven't unlocked everything yet, but I'm sure we'll find easier ways without having to do all those arbitrary objectives.

You know you can adjust the screen size in both the Mega Drive games and Game Gear games with the C-Stick.

Also, Sonic CD seems identical to the PC version as far as I can tell. Just with faster loading screens which used to make it unplayable. It's also nice that I don't have to have any kind of 256 color display for my Gamecube.

As for Sonic R, it's not the PC version though it does have the weather effects in it, it's different. There wasn't any Sonic R logo for a loading screen and the game runs a lot faster. The 2005 copyright logo leads me to believe they added extra effects to the Saturn version or just took advantage of the Gamecube's power.

Otherwise the games are the most playable versions that I have.

Sonic CD runs a lot faster, and that's a bit (a BIT) of a problem in the Special Stages. Turns out Sonic Team doesn't believe in "one-1,000."

Maybe they took out the water color to make that level run faster. I get bad slow down when I play TT in the PC version.
